Brothers & Sisters Star Comes Out: "It's My Truth"

Brothers & Sisters' Luke MacFarlane has chosen now, the occasion of a significant step forward for Scotty and Kevin, to disclose his own sexuality. "I don't know what will happen professionally — that is the fear, but I guess I can't really be concerned about what will happen, because it's my truth," the actor tells Canada's Globe and Mail. "There is this desire in L.A. to wonder who you are, and what's been blaring for me for the last three years is how can I be most authentic to myself. So this is the first time I am speaking about it in this way."MacFarlane's coming out comes just as Scotty and Kevin are (Spoiler alert) on their way to a May-sweeps marriage. "From a standing-outside perspective, and also as someone who is gay, I think that it's a very exciting time," he observes. "How exciting that we're saying, 'This can be part of the cultural fabric, now,' because it is two series regulars, two people that you invite into your home and you see every week. It's telling... read full article

February 11, 2007: Valentine's Day Massacre

So much happened last night that it could have taken weeks for a typical family to sort out every event. Thank goodness the Walkers don’t keep secrets. All it took was one four-way conversation for everyone to know that Kitty slept with the senator, Kevin slept with Scotty, Justin slept with Tyler, and Nora spent the night in jail.Kitty and the senator were the big story, obviously. Once we found out that a business trip had them spending Valentine’s Day together, it became apparent that something would happen between them. Things started off romantically, but there's so much potential for complication. It seems fairly certain that issues will come up at work and/or with their families. On a side note, I did like the senator’s comment that he “always had a thing for Demi Moore,” Rob Lowe and Demi Moore of course both being members of the Brat Pack. Valentine’s Day didn’t go quite as smoothly for Kevin. Dealing with his ex-boyfriend and his secret b... read more

Welcome to Thursday Nights, Everyone!

Greetings, virtual community, it's good to be back! I just got back from the movie theater with Justine Bateman, where we saw this slasher movie called Fur. OK, it's not really a slasher movie, it's a movie about photographer Diane Arbus, but the one thing that did get slashed was my part. Between that and the Bears losing, it could've been quite the downward spiral today, but I count it as a step on the way to becoming a real actor. In my book, you're not a real actor until your part hits the cutting-room floor, you get a bad review, and you've been fired. So I am two-thirds of the way there — I just hope the firing doesn't happen on Men in Trees, because I love seeing these people at work every day. And Justine Bateman may or may not be one of those people (whom, as I see at work, no one can resist loving). I can't reveal any more except that she may or may not have one of the greatest lead-ins and entrances on a television show I've ever seen. A literal and metaphorical stor... read more
