Critic's Guide to Thursday TV: Rallying Around Community, A Regis Salute, and More!

The timing couldn't be better for someone to make a commercial touting Greendale Community College, the madcap home for NBC's eternally underappreciated cult-com Community (8/7c) — but does it have to be Dean "Call me Craig" Pelton (the fearlessly funny Jim Rash) pulling the strings? With fans and critics having what seems to be a collective meltdown over the news that NBC is temporarily benching ...

Frasier refuses to pay an unfair fee at a parking garage. Frasier drives Niles to the mall so he can return a birdcage for his two lovebirds--appropriately named Niles and Daphne. Right after pulling into the parking garage, Frasier realizes the clock is wrong and he's late for his radio show. He immediately turns around and the tenant charges him two dollars, even though he never parked. Frasier refuses to pay the fee and to prove his point, he parks his car next to the attendant booth to get his 20 minutes worth. Behind him, a line of traffic forms, but he remains parked. Frasier calls the station to have Roz stall on the air, while Niles threatens to abort the mission. An irate driver pays Frasier's tab. The gate goes up but Frasier refuses to move. When the angry motorists unite to protest Frasier's stand against getting ripped off by service providers, he second-guesses his decision but cannot succumb to his principles. Niles convinces him it would take a bigger man to leave than to stick out the extra time. Frasier finally gives in and hands the tenant his two dollars. However, the meter displays four dollars because he went over his time. Frasier steps on the gas and speeds off. Frasier arrives at the station to take over for Roz, who has opened up the airwaves to callers. He believes she was discussing his protest and jumps in by giving details of the event. What he doesn't realize is that she inadvertently exposed a fact revealing that she and Frasier had a fling. When Daphne picks up the last of her belongings, Eddie reacts as though he's upset that she is moving out. She realizes how much she will be missed and promises Martin she will visit on a regular basis. watch

How Bryan Greenberg Made it to How to Make it in America

Viewers may recognize him from more lighthearted fare like One Tree Hill and October Road, but these days Bryan Greenberg is hustling as a fashion-school dropout on HBO's new series How to Make it in America (Sun, 10/9c). Greenberg, who calls the series "very timely with the economy," talked to TVGuide.com about why he responded to the project and how his musical background affects his roles.

TVGuide.com: How did you get involved in the show?
Bryan Greenberg: I actually knew Ian Edelman, the creator of the show, through basketball and a mutual friend, but I had no idea he was...

I have hung in with John from ...

Question: I have hung in with John from Cincinnati through the first four episodes and will probably stick with it for the first series. After all, I felt that Deadwood took a half-dozen episodes to find its feet, so I'll give John the same chance. Besides, I want to love a show that has both Luis Guzman and Ed O'Neill. Having said that, Episode 4 tested my resolve tremendously. Milch seems to be bringing in characters that serve no purpose. They don't move the plot along or illuminate the other characters — they just make me scratch my head (the motel owner, the associate drug dealer, Shaun's doctor). The porn star runaway mother dropping in out of the blue was close to the last straw. If Episode 5 brings us a memory-impaired surfer who was crippled due to Butchie's drug use, I'm outta there. Also, while some of the characters intrigue me, it all gets undone every time Rebecca De Mornay starts screaming, which is virtually every line of dialogue she utters. Does this show have a ... read more
