  • Started out writing and performing with comedy partner Hart Pomerantz on the Canadian TV series The Hart and Lorne Terrific Hour.
  • Founded the New York-based production company Broadway Video Inc. in 1979.
  • Told TV GUIDE in 1998, "When I left [Saturday Night Live] in 1980, I was sort of surprised the show went on, because almost everybody involved with it left, and it stumbled for a while and then regained its feet. Then [NBC Entertainment president] Brandon Tartikoff called me because they were going to cancel it in 1985, and I found out how much I cared about it."
  • Inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1999.
  • Received the Kennedy Center's 2004 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
