Decision-makers at a few teen mags are also looking at the 16-year-old through not-as-rosy-colored glasses. "I was considering her for an upcoming cover," the editor in chief of CosmoGIRL! tells UsMagazine.com. "But with this news, I'd have to rethink that.... As you can imagine, girls are disappointed in Jamie Lynn." Similarly, Seventeen's EIC says she might put Spears on the cover but only once she gets past this moment and resumes "a career our readers can look up to. Getting pregnant at 16 is not something we're encouraging."One person who is standing by Spears is Lisa Whelchel, the former child star of (ironically) The Facts of Life.
