In the clip, Leonard Nimoy, who originated the character in the Star Trek film and TV franchise, and Zachary Quinto, who plays a younger version in the reboot, go head-to-head in chess. After Nimoy beats Quinto, Quinto challenges the actor to a round of golf. But while Quinto's journey in his Audi is seamless, speedy and high tech, Nimoy can barely fit his clubs in the trunk of his Mercedes.
In the second part of our farewell to Fringe, producers and cast discuss the introduction of the parallel universe, which opened up the world of Fox's sci-fi drama to new and exciting possibilities, including a new set of characters with names like Walternate and Bolivia that fans would — gasp! — actually come to love in the end...
Fringe kicked off the final day at Comic-Con Sunday with a crowd full of Observers — at least it looked that way with more than 6,000 fans donning Fringe fedoras. They gathered to celebrate the tearful final panel for the Fox sci-fi series, which will say farewell at the end of its upcoming fifth season.

How happy am I not to be preparing a eulogy for Fringe this weekend, instead celebrating another audacious year of emotionally compelling sci-fi thrills with a grand season, not series, finale (Friday at 9/8c, Fox).
Thank goodness we know that Fringe has been renewed for another season. Otherwise this new preview for the season finale would have us seriously worried.

In the two minute-long, movie-like trailer — a shorter version debuted last week — William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) details his megalomaniacal plan to collapse the two universes in order to create a new one — which looks a lot like a scene from Jurassic Park. Will the Fringe team survive this disaster? Will Olivia (Anna Torv) avoid her fate? And what is the backward voice at the end of the trailer saying? (Some eager tweeters have already guessed "It is impossible.")
