Elton John and Helen Mirren will make their Saturday Night Live hosting debuts in April, NBC announced Tuesday.
John is scheduled to host April 2 and will pull double duty as he'll also perform with musical guest Leon Russell. John's only previous appearance on the sketch show came in 1982 as a musical guest. John and Russell recently released an album titled The Union.
Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Darlene Love and Tom Waits were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Dr. John and Leon Russell.
Diamond, 70, is well known for his song "Sweet Caroline," inspired by Caroline Kennedy and now used as the Boston Red Sox anthem.
"It was the most surreal experience of my life," Allison Janney says of dueting with five-time Grammy winner James Taylor for Mr. Sunshine's March 16 episode. The singer guest stars on the ABC comedy as Billy, the ex-husband of Janney's Crystal. Turns out the exes had a lounge act and reunite to sing Leon Russell's "A Song For You," which Janney says "is probably one of the hardest songs to sing for someone who hadn't sung since stepping off the 9 to 5 stage over a year earlier."
Neil Diamond, Tom Waits and the Alice Cooper Band are among the new inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the organization announced Wednesday.
