Watercooler: Gossip Girl Finally Gets Dair-ing!

Gossip Girl

About. Damn. Time!

After what's felt like the longest dramatic foreplay since Sam and Diane (if you don't get that, Google them), Gossip Girl's Blair and Dan finally got it on last night. And although good flings didn't come to those who waited at first, the couple some 'shippers have been praying for since their first foreign-film convo were able to give the good stuff a second (and third) shot with major success.

So yay, right? ... read more

Gossip Girl Spoilers: Blair Chose Dan Over Chuck — Now What?

Gossip Girl, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley

Loved it or hated it, you were probably reeling the last time Gossip Girl was on the air, aka the moment where Blair chose Dan over Chuck. In Monday's new episode, Queen B and the boy from Brooklyn are going to try their darndest to consummate their unlikely couple status by... well, you know. (The show, of course, will throw obstacles in their way, like parents inconveniently hanging around.)

But whether or not they succeed, there will be plenty working against Ms. Have and Mr. Have Not. Will they come out of Season 5 intact? When exactly did the writers decide Dan and Blair should be together anyway? Where does that leave Chuck? And what about Serena, whose heart was also broken? Is Gossip Girl's laptop going to spell war between B and S? We grilled series executive producer Josh Safran about the origins of Blair's choice and what it has wrought... read more

Gossip Girl's 100th Episode: Blair's No Blushing Bride

Gossip Girl

Here comes the bride, all dressed in...a stunning Vera Wang gown and a veil of secrets! For Gossip Girl's 100th episode, the Upper East Side gathers to witness the holy matrimony of Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Prince Louis (Hugo Becker). And according to exec producer Stephanie Savage, the bride-to-be got the royal treatment. "The crew really went all out," she says. "Wardrobe, makeup...it's a visually stunning episode."

Apparently, even the cast was caught up in the emotion of the event... read more

Ed Westwick Tired of "Lovesick Puppy" Chuck, Ready for Gossip Girl to End

Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester

Last we saw Chuck Bass, he was so determined to bust up Blair's wedding (ah, young love) that he told some malevolent priest from Monaco that he'd revert back to his dastardly scheming ways to do it. Which isn't so much what Blair wants, but Ed Westwick would love it.

That's because over the past two seasons of Gossip Girl, Chuck has been re-made into the heart-on-his-sleeve Romeo of the Upper East Side. His reformed self is still rich and pretentious, but the amoral playboy who once traded Blair for a hotel is long gone. Even his last fling last season with Raina turned into real love (if you take Blair out of the equation).

Gossip Girl "End of the Affair" postmortem: Burning questions answered!

"I feel like the old Chuck was a playboy and that's what I would have loved to have been," Westwick told TVGuide.com at the CW winter TV preview earlier this month. The 24-year-old British actor laughed before adding, "Maybe... read more

Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester: I Want the Blair and Dan Relationship to Play Out

Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester

While Gossip Girl fans may be torn between who they want Blair to be with, Leighton Meester is not.

"The one relationship I'd love to play out is Blair and Dan," she told TVGuide.com at the show's 100th episode party Saturday night. Penn Badgley (Dan) said: "I like the Blair [story line] because it's the most exciting for Dan as a person."

Although it was a surprise to see the Queen Bee and Lonely Boy, who often butted heads, start to like each other, executive producer Josh Safran said the pairing has been likely to happen since the beginning.

"I wrote the first scene with them together in Season 1 ... and we knew at that moment there was something there," he said.

Watercooler: Gossip Girl's Best Non-Couple

Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester

OK, we know we've said it before, but this bears repeating: Dan and Blair take Gossip Girl to a whole new level.

Even though they may not be couple-ish like they were last season, the writers have wisely salvaged the pairing by easing them into the kind of friendship the show needed. Honest, humorous and, of course, peppered with La Waldorf's haughty Upper East snide commentary about their class differences, the mismatched buds are the realest thing going in a world where Serena can land a job in Hollywood by simply having read a book and Elizabeth Hurley wants to do Nate in a stairwell.

Gossip Girl Boss Josh Safran: Blair Has Chosen Her Guy, L.A. Is the Perfect Place for Serena

Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester and Hugo Becker

Here's what Gossip Girl executive producer Josh Safran doesn't — and won't — talk about when it comes to the show's fifth season: the identity of who is pregnant, a possible second glimpse of Oscar-nominated director David O. Russell (so impressed by Serena's knowledge of The Beautiful and Damned he handed her a summer job), Ivy, the whereabouts of the real Charlie (and if it even matters), the fall-out from Dan's Upper East Side-bashing book, Georgina, gone-but-angry outcast Vanessa ...

Fortunately, some of those cliff-hangers will immediately be dealt with when Gossip Girl returns (Monday, 8/7c, CW). TVGuide.com instead got Safran's thoughts about why Blair has become the show's most interesting character (by far), what makes this season more fun than last (even if it didn't begin in Paris) and why Serena could wind up being the best movie producer ever:

At the end of last season, you said Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair (Leighton Meester) were totally not over.
Josh Safran:
