Lea Michele: Glee's Message Is "Incredible"

Now that Glee star Lea Michele has wrapped the first season of the hit musical dramedy, she and the rest of cast are hitting the stage for a live tour. "I'm nervous though," says Michele in an interview with Hollywood 411, "We're, like, singing 15 songs live, all different genres. So that's a big challenge, but I'm ready for it."

Will Glee take on Madonna again?

Besides the catchy tunes featured in the show, Michele also tells us why she thinks that Glee is so important. "It really sends such an incredible message that it's important to be proud of who you are, be comfortable in your skin," she says.

The cast of the quirky Fox musical comedy will receive the organization's 2009 award for favorite new diverse ensemble cast in November, according to Reuters. The series, which focuses on a less-than-cool high school glee club, mixes jocks and cheerleaders with a boy in a wheelchair (Kevin McHale), a geeky girl (Lea Michele), a gay student (Chris Colfer), an Asian goth (Jenna Ushkowitz) and an overweight African-American girl (Amber Riley).

"The bunch are determined to overcome the odds and make it to the big time both in high school and the world beyond," the Diversity Awards executive committee said in a statement.
