Another name has been added to the cast of NBC's upcoming Silence of the Lambs drama, Hannibal — but there's a twist.

The show has tapped Camelot actress Lara Jean Chorostecki to play tabloid reporter Freddie Lounds, a traditionally male role, played in previous film versions by Philip Seymour Hoffman (Red Dragon) and Stephen Lang (Manhunter) — as "Freddy Lounds," TVLine reports.

Hannibal Casts Its Leading Lady

Hannibal has cast Wonderfalls' Caroline Dhavernas as its female lead, TVLine reports.

Showrunner Bryan Fuller, who created both shows, tweeted the news along with a picture of Dhavernas and her Wonderfalls lion figurine.

In the adaptation, Dhavernas will play Dr. Alana "Al" Bloom, a psychology professor and protégé of Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). read more

Laurence Fishburne is heading back to the small screen.

The former CSI star has been cast on NBC's upcoming Hannibal Lecter thriller Hannibal, TVGuide.com has confirmed. He will play FBI special agent Jack Crawford, the boss of Hugh Dancy's Will Graham, the criminal profiler who's tracking a serial killer with the help of Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen).

Archie Panjabi says viewers will get new insight into Kalinda's relationship with Will. "The two of them look out for each other a lot," Panjabi says. "I think we'll definitely get to see that in Season 3. They used to spend a lot of time drinking in bars." Contagion Beats The Help to Top Slow Weekend Box Office

Contagion

Steven Soderbergh's virus outbreak thriller Contagion fittingly topped what was a pretty sickly weekend box office.

The film, which stars Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law, pulled in $23.1 million, according to Box Office Mojo. That was enough to topple three-time champ The Help, which fell to second place with an additional $8.7 million (for a total of $137 million after five weeks).

All told, the box office gross for the weekend's top 10 films was only $66.4 million, the lowest weekend gross this year.... read more
