Laura Vandervoort and Tom Welling, Smallville
Is this the season Clark's story "gets off the ground"? Might Tom Welling join the big-screen Justice League? Does Lex have a top-secret partner in Supercrime? In this first of three installments, executive producer Al Gough fields TVGuide.com readers' burning questions about Smallville (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET, CW).
Are you still going to stick with your original "No Tights, No Flights" policy, considering how far we've come with the mythology and the fact that Supergirl [aka Kara, played by Laura Vandervoort] will be flying? — Salchan Al Gough: Yes, we are sticking with that policy as far as Clark is concerned. (Obviously Bizarro can fly as well as Kara.) But following up on what Chloe said about his lack of flying in the season premiere ("Clark,

The CW's Smallville (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET) ups its "hot alien" quotient this week with the arrival of Clark's interstellar (and interminably sexy) cousin, Kara, aka Supergirl. Filling the comely Kryptonian's standard attire of "half-tops and short shorts," as she puts it, is Laura Vandervoort, a Canadian knockout with a hefty resume up North. "I started acting at 13," she says. "And did a lot of shows in [Canada]," including Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark.

This season on Supernatural, Sam and Dean Winchester get some help fighting evil in the form of two tough-as-nails female hunters. On Thursday, Oct. 4, Ruby, played by Katie Cassidy, the daughter of '70s teen idol and singer David Cassidy, joins the hunt for the masses of demons who escaped from Hell in the second season finale. On Thursday, Oct. 18, Lauren Cohan enters the fray as Bela, a mercenary who realizes there is a lot of money to be made in the supernatural world. "Rub...

So much for getting Amber Heard. Just in time to be paraded before the Comic-Con fanboys, 22-year-old Laura Vandervoort, whom fans of The N (our Angel Cohn included) know as Instant Star's Sadie, has been cast in the role of Smallville's Kara, aka Supergirl. This superstrong and airborne! newcomer may prove to be a super-pain to her kin, however. "We've wanted a character to shake things up," series creator Al Gough tells People. "She may be Clark Kent's cousin, but that doesn't mean she's going to be the obedient one!" Sounds like Paris Hilton, minus the gravitational pull. Actually....For the complete story on how Smallville will introduce its take on Supergirl, see the TV Guide News Report.UPDATE: Ausiello has breaking news about a Supernatural role being filled; check it out here.
