The great-granddaughter of a former Utah governor and the great-cousin of Tennessee Williams.
At age 7 she had an uncredited cameo in Martin Scorsese's Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) as a child eating an ice-cream cone (she ate 26 cones for 26 takes).
David Lynch, who directed her in two films, nicknamed the statuesque actress "Tidbit."
Once shared an apartment with lecturer, author and New Age guru Marianne Williamson.
Both she and her mother Diane Ladd were nominated for Oscars for their performances in 1991's Rambling Rose, the first time in Academy Award history that a mother and daughter were nominated in the same year.
