"Thanksgiving is going to be just a lot of relaxing and quality family time," Brooke Burke said just moments after being named this season's Dancing with the Stars celebrity champ. "My family gave up a lot for me to do this. They gave up so much mommy time." Burke's pro partner, Derek Hough, similarly was happy to be a winner, yet just as thankful to get a deserved (if brief) time-out. "Dude, Thanksgiving is going to be rest," he declared. Sure, he kept a big smile on his face and got a near-perfect score. But when Lance Bass accidentally kicked off his left shoe doing a high-stepping jitterbug on Monday night's Dancing with the Stars, he panicked. "The only thing I could think of was to fast-forward in my head to all the moves I had to do — and that I had to land on my left foot," says Bass. "I was thinking, 'Do I have to change something so I don't slip and make Lacey [Schwimmer, his pro partner] fall?' So far this season, Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer are getting their Dancing groove on with solid scores and some "untraditional" moves that are earning them kudos and a little ire. But as Season 7 is beset by a string of injuries — from Jeff Ross' cornea scratch to Misty-May Treanor's tendon-pop — they're not taking any chances.
