At Monday's Boston Marathon, ex-cycling champ Lance Armstrong continued his impressive transition to the 26.2-mile footrace. In his third attempt at the distance Armstrong clocked in at 2 hour, 50 minutes, 58 seconds — a pace of 6:32 per mile — not far off his personal best of 2:46:43…New York Rangers tough-guy center Sean Avery will spend his summer vacation interning for Vogue. "Like most interns, the 28-year-old Avery will be expected to do traditional assistantlike tasks — making copies and messengering couture gowns, for instance," according to Women's Wear Daily. Lance Armstrong will run 112th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21. The seven-time Tour de France winner probably could have gotten into the 26.2-mile race based on his celeb status — as Katie Holmes reportedly has — but instead he did it the old-fashioned way: qualifying with an impressive time of two hours, 46 minutes, 43 seconds at the New York City Marathon last November. (The Boston Athletic Association, which organizes the race, is currently negotiating for a national TV broadcast.)....Turner Sports and the NBA are strengthening their relationship next season, with Turner set to take control of programming, marketing and technical operations of NBA TV, the league’s cable channel, as well as the league's websites, including nba.com and wnba.com. A security guard at a 1996 Guns N' Roses concert is finally getting around to suing Axl Rose for allegedly kicking him in the head during a performance.... Andy Garcia is being sued by a woman who claims his film, The Lost City, is based on her husband's life, TMZ says. Since her spouse is a sax player who was exiled from Cuba after Castro took over and Garcia plays a nightclub owner who flees of his own accord, I have a hunch this isn't going to go well for her.

Ralph Fiennes and Francesca Annis are separating after 11 years of not-quite-marriage, lawyers announced on Wednesday. Apparently, Fran insisted on pronouncing Ralph's first name the way it's spelled.... US Weekly reports that Denise Richards' reconciliation with Charlie Sheen hit the skids for good when, during their December Barbados getaway, she caught her hubby macking on a "hot young girl." At the end of his weekly Sirius radio show, Lance Armstrong described his now ex-fiancée Sheryl Crow as "an unbelievable lady [who] has shown me a love that I never knew," then played her song "Letter to God." Lance Armstrong has experienced plenty of tough times, from surviving cancer to completing and winning six consecutive Tours de France.
But his endurance, and his ability to focus on cycling, are now being put to the test — by the tabloids. As he prepares for his final ride in the Tour next month, the supercyclist is trying to outrun a published rumor that his relationship with Grammy-winning girlfriend Sheryl Crow has reached the finish line.
Armstrong adamantly denied the rumor in a recent phone call from his hometown of Austin, Tex. "Sheryl and I were in the car yesterday when somebody called us about the story," he says. "It is completely untrue."
Armstrong, 33, met Crow, 43, at a Las Vegas charity event in 2003 and says he's "mad about her. She is a great woman. We are very similar, and of course it is a challenge sometimes to work things through, but she is a true blessing in my life. I have found happiness the second time around." (Ar
