"The stakes are enormous," creator Andrew W. Marlowe tells us. "If something happens to the mayor, Castle is not going to be able to continue his partnership with Beckett. How do you deal with an investigation when you're compromised because of the way you feel?"

TNT is going by the book in its approach to launching what the network is calling Mystery Movie Night, reviving a classic genre of TV by leaning heavily on best-selling brand names in the first wave of six titles airing through December on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The timing couldn't be better for this week's announcement by FX that the current — and best to date — season of Sons of Anarchy is being expanded by an extra episode (No. 14 will now air Dec. 6).

DirecTV and Fox Networks reached a last-minute agreement Monday to avoid a blackout that would have included FX, several regional sports networks and other Fox-owned cable channels, The New York Times reports.

Sons of Anarchy's 90-minute Season 4 debut became the series' most-watched episode, attracting 4.94 million viewers, a 20 percent increase over the third-season premiere, according to Nielsen figures.
Of that viewership total, some 3.22 million Tuesday night -- up 15 percent -- were in the advertiser-coveted 18-to-49 age group.
