Dancing's Maks: Kirstie's Kiss Was a Total Surprise

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a great week. Thanks for voting for us!

I thought our quickstep was a lot of fun. And the kiss was a total surprise! I'm not kidding. We never even talked about doing it in rehearsals. But I think it made sense at the end there. Kirstie's funny. She's a comedienne and she went for it. It was as shocking to me as it was to everyone else. It was funny and fun. I think it shows that we have an amazing relationship and everything's going well ...

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Our top moments of the week:

11. Worst Reminder: When Tamra and Vicki head South of the Border to Cabo San Lucas on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Tamra decides to "do as the Cabo-nians do" and do a body shot at the poolside bar. She urges her friend to do the same, but Vicki is far too mortified and reminds Tamra that she's the mother of four. Well, we guess someone has to teach them eventually, right?

Dancing With the Stars Gets Ready to go Classical

Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani

Get ready for a major format tweak: Dancing With the Stars is planning a Classical Theme Week in early April. "It's quite ballsy to do two hours of classical music in primetime," says executive producer Conrad Green, who is looking for ways to keep the competition fresh in its twelfth season.

The classical twist will be a big change. For that one week, the two spiral ballroom staircases will disappear, making room for a 38-piece orchestra playing selections along the lines of "Beethoven's 5th."  "We're rebuilding the whole upstage area to accommodate all those musicians," says Green.

Matt's TV Week in Review

Archie Panjabi, The Good Wife

Sometimes it's not just about the ratings. And sometimes it is. That's the takeaway from an eventful week in the win-some/lose-some sweepstakes we call TV programming.

On the plus side: TNT's renewal of Southland, the latest lifeline for the gritty police drama that NBC ditched during that misbegotten period when Jay Leno put the 10 pm drama on the endangered species list. It will never be as popular as the network's signature shows like The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles (which got a funny shout out from 30 Rock's Liz Lemon this week), but Southland's uncompromising integrity helps give credence to TNT's "We Know Drama" credo.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Hi everyone!

What did you think of the premiere? Thank you in advance for all of your votes! I am so proud of Kirstie. I thought she did great and she was rewarded for all the hard work she put in. The Office

Our top moments of the week:

13. Best Day of the Week:
Hard to believe, but Rebecca Black's ubiquitous "Friday" is a rip-off of another song — or so Conan O'Brien claims. In his Conan video blog, the funnyman reveals that he did a music video a few weeks ago called "Thursday" that is vaguely similar to Black's "Friday" clip, with shout-outs to cereal (Cap'n Crunch) and driving in cars (his beloved 1992 Ford Taurus). Not to be outdone, Coco manages to squeeze in his own ... read more
