"Chuck vs. the Truth"

The truth is out there... or was it? Tonight a poison expert (guest star Kevin Weisman) got to Chuck and his crew and exposed them all to some killer truth serum, causing Sarah and Casey to drop the spy act and tell it like it is. Sorta.Unfortunately Ellie got poisoned as well, and Chuck put her welfare before everything and everyone else. He had one dose of the antidote, and he gave it to her. Not a very spy-like move, but certainly a 100 percent Chuck choice. With time running out, Chuck realized how to track down the bad guy and got the antidote for everyone, but not before he got a painful confession from Sarah: Their fake relationship has no chance of getting real. And that makes things even more difficult for Chuck, who found someone who could be real, and right, for him. The O.C alum Rachel Bilson breezed into Chuck's life with a broken phone and a deli sandwich named after him — what's not to love? Too bad he already has a "girlfriend" in Sarah. You can't blame Chuck fo... read more

Exclusive Scooplets (Gossip, Chuck) and Other Random Stuff!

Kevin Weisman and Kelly Bishop by Kevin Parry/WireImage.com

• Ex-Alias techie Kevin Weisman can't seem to shake the spy biz. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the actor has landed a flashy guest stint on NBC's Chuck. He'll play a poisonous (literally) bad guy in the Nov. 12 episode titled "Chuck Versus the Truth." • Know what time it is? It's time for me to put on my Armchair Casting Director hat, that's what time it is. As all you Ausiello Scoop newsletter subscribers first learned yesterday, Gossip Girl is introducing Serena's "wealthy, manipulative and larger-than-life" grandmother — a role that sounds tailor-made for a certain acid-tongued Gilmore Girls matriarch named Kelly Bishop. No worries, I'm on the case. I've already contacted both exec producer Josh Schwartz and Bishop's agent. With any luck, I'll be able to announce something offical in next week's Ask Ausiello.• Was last night's Pushing Daisies pure genius or what? And I'm not just saying that because Kristin Chenoweth practically name-checked me with t... read more

The Push Worked for Daisies

Kristin Chenowith in Pushing Daisies by Scott Garfield/ABC

The early ratings are in, and it looks like the combination of aggressive promotion and laudatory media buzz paid off for the first round of ABC’s delightful Pushing Daisies, which handily won its time period Wednesday and is off to a solid start. Honestly, though, if any of the reality alternatives had prevailed (especially CBS’s snooze-inducing Kid Nation and the is-that-still-on stupid briefcase show over on NBC), I think I’d be wearing a black armband in to work for the rest of the season. I’m dying to see a second episode of Daisies, and am trying to pretend I’m not worried that ABC hasn’t supplied one yet. (A year ago, I was dazzled by the pilot of The Nine, an episode the series never again lived up to.) Still, after watching an opening hour as filled with wonder and whimsy as Daisies’ pilot (or “Pielette,” as the episode was titled), how can anyone express anything but hope?My other top Wednesday night priority was seeing how Priv... read more

Tonight might have been the best...

Tonight might have been the best How I Met Your Mother yet. I can't believe that they combined "Charlie Brown," Top Gun and Pirates of the Caribbean. Genius. Love that dopey Ted — who reminds me more of Charlie Brown than the ever-hopeful Linus — waiting up every Halloween for a chance to reconnect with his soul mate, the slutty pumpkin. Still adoring Barney. His horny-devil costume paired with the angel who wanted weed was the best. But how cool is it that he donned a penguin outfit in order to stop his friend from making a fool of himself again? "I penguin-suited-up to show you the error of your ways." But the line of the night came from Marshall who said, "Penguins are cool, kind of like black and white ewoks." So geeky, yet that big marshmallow is just so lovable.... And speaking of lovable, I was more than happy when I tuned in to the retro I Love the '80s 3-D flashback and saw my favorite current TV sidek read more
