Kevin Sorbo, Avenging Angel
After developing a large hero-worshipping following with 1995-to-1999's syndicated campfest Hercules, then as Gene Roddenberry's starship commander on 2000-to-2005's Andromeda, Kevin Sorbo is now trying his hand at the cowboy genre, as a preacher turned bounty hunter in Hallmark Channel's Avenging Angel (premiering Saturday at 9 pm/ET).

A few casting quickies: As scooped on Monday by the Ausiello Report, Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) is joining House for the season's penultimate episode, playing a potential love interest for the grumpy doc. See Mike for more. Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, The O.C.) will headline Hallmark Channel's Avenging Angel, playing a fallen preacherman out to punish some church-torching marauders. Also per the Reporter, Andy Serkis, aka the LOTR films' Gollum, will star as Albert Einstein in Einstein and Eddington, a TV-movie collaboration between HBO and the BBC. Doctor Who's David Tennant will play the latter astrophysicist, Sir Arthur Eddington.

Former Hercules star Kevin Sorbo and his wife, Sam, have announced that they are expecting a baby in, um, October. (Nothing like waiting till the last minute, Herc.) The couple already have a 4-year-old son, Braeden, and 1-year-old son, Shane. Their births are slated to be announced sometime next year.
