Rio Conchos unfolds in Texas, shortly after the end of the Civil War. A group of four men led by ex-Confederate soldier Major Jim Lassiter (Richard Boone) sets out across the desert on a secret mission to prevent an unbalanced ex-Confederate colonel from selling a cache of stolen rifles to a band of warrior Apaches. The ex-Confederate colonel hopes to supply the renegade Indians with rifles in an attempt to recruit their help in carving out a chunk of Confederate territory in the West. The conflicts among the four men make this a provocative and engaging film.

With the integrity and depth of an epic, Shenandoah tells the dramatic story of a man caught in a dilemma. James Stewart stars as a Virginia farmer during the Civil War. He refuses to support the Confederacy because he is opposed to slavery, yet he will not support the Union because he is deeply opposed to war. When his son is taken prisoner, Stewart goes to search for the boy. Seeing first-hand the horrors of war, he is at last forced to take his stand.

Set during the Korean War, "Pork Chop Hill" illustrates true heroism in war, when soldiers in the field fight the real battle while diplomats and UN officials attempt democracy as their troups are bleeding and dying. Gregory Peck leads a 135-man unit on the attack of the Chinese-held Pork Chop Hill. When reinforcements finally arrive, only 25 of Peck's men survive. Well known as one of the best depictions of life in the crossfire, with an uncanny "you are there" feeling.
