Chris Rock made his return to Saturday Night Live this weekend to host for the first time since 1996, and in turn offered up some good laughs before ultimately settling in for a subpar episode.
Once again proving that Rock isn't afraid to tackle subjects most SNL hosts won't, the episode saw him take on the terrorist organization ISIS, but also gave him the space to perform his patented stand-up and maybe also dance to soul music.
This week, the Dancing with the Stars moment we've all been waiting for happened: Alfonso Ribeiro finally busted out The Carlton. Elsewhere, two kangaroos got into a fist(?)fight in the middle of an Australian street, and a German woman demonstrated her mind-blowing ability to sing multiple notes at once. Also, Jimmy Fallon and Carol Burnett unveiled their "lost soap opera," Tensions, and celebrities like Lena Dunham and Natasha Lyonne teamed up with Lil Jon to encourage young people to vote. Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson and his wife, model Christina Evangeline, welcomed a baby girl on Friday, People reports.
Seth Rogen returned to Saturday Night Live for his third hosting stint this weekend, and it was distinctly not a charm.
The episode started off promisingly, with Rogen's monologue featuring cameos from celebs — some surprising (Zooey Deschanel), some predictable (James Franco), and some who were there to support musical guest Ed Sheeran (Taylor Swift). But the rest of the night was a bit of a slog, save for a bizarre sketch featuring Franco as a monster who decides to get plastic surgery to appear human.
