Move over Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler, there's a new hot blonde American Idol castoff in town! That's right, Kristy Lee Cook has inked a record deal with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville to create a country album that will drop later this fall. Cook, who finished seventh (and was lucky she made it that far considering Simon's constant disses), says, "I've wanted this for so many years. The Academy of Country Music Awards opened with a fitting song, Carrie Underwood's Vegas-inspired hit about a drunken night's nuptials, "Last Name."Underwood would go on to win Top Female Artist at the 43rd installment of the ACMAs at the MGM Grand Garden Arena May 18 in Las Vegas. Before the show, stars walked the orange carpet, many making a trip to a crowd of fans who waited hours in the record 104-degree heat to get an autograph. Kellie Pickler signed a copy of an American Idol CD given to her by a fan, laughing and holding it up for photographers. "I love what American Idol did for me," Pickler said.
