American Idol just hosted its final showdown of the season.

American Idol celebrated its 500th (!) episode Wednesday night, with tributes throughout the broadcast from past winners. But really, the visits only served as a reminder of how far the show has fallen since its Kelly Clarkson/Carrie Underwood heydays.
But that's not the only depressing aspect of tonight's show: We learn right at the start that Caleb Johnson has "no voice," after suffering from bronchitis, sinusitis, and a bruised vocal chord. Yikes.
Ryan Seacrest has signed a new deal to return as the host of American Idol, Deadline.com reports.

For the first time ever, the Final Four performed three songs each on American Idol Wednesday. The themes were breakups, make-ups and dedications, and one of the singers will get dumped by America on Thursday. Who will it be?
Let's get right to the performances:
Ryan Seacrest teased a "shocking twist" that would send Idol Nation's collective head spinning at the beginning of Thursday's American Idol, and any longtime viewer knows that never bodes well. Would the finalists get to eliminate one of their own? Would Randy Jackson offer some valuable feedback? Would Grumpy Cat cast the deciding vote? Read on to find out what happened.
On American Idol Wednesday, the Final 5 took to the stage twice to tackle songs chosen by fans and curated by producers, so you know they had to be good! Did America get it right or lead our competitors astray? Let's break down the performances:
American Idol has officially entered the homestretch. With less than a month to go in Season 13, we're at the point where each contestant will have to tackle not one, but two songs per show. Tonight's theme? "A little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll."
With 12 performances to squeeze in, the show doesn't waste any time in getting to the performances, and we won't either. But first, an observation: After tonight's show, it seems as though the Final 6 can easily be divided into a Top 3 (Jessica, Caleb and Jena) and a Bottom 3 (Sam, Alex and C.J.), as far as who's a real contender to win this thing. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments!
