Reality-TV uberproducer Mark Burnett tied the knot with Roma Downey on Saturday at their Malibu home, in a ceremony officiated by Downey's ordained Touch by an Angel costar, Della Reese. The union is Burnett's second and Downey's third.... Whale Rider's Keisha Castle-Hughes has been cast as Mary in Nativity, a look at the Virgin Mary's life before the birth of Christ.... Universal has optioned the James Sallis novel Drive, about a stuntman by day/getaway-car driver by night, as a starring vehicle (no pun intended) for Hugh Jackman.... The Weinstein Co. has bought the domestic rights to Bobby, writer-director Emilio Estevez's drama about the 1968 assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Question: I wish I had submitted this last year but I never got around to it. So I’m asking now: Why is there such a small number of voting Academy members?


Answer: You'd think that if the Academy comprises actors, directors, producers and all those other craftspeople, there would be a lot more voting members. As of 2006, there are 5,798 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, divided among 14 branches: actors (the largest by a considerable margin), art directors, cinematographers, directors, documentary filmmakers, executives, film editors, music composers, producers, publicists, animators, sound technicians, visual-effects artists and screenwriters.
