The term 'armistice' means a cessation of hostilities as a prelude to peace negotiations. In the context of the First World War 'the armistice' is generally referred to in context of the agreement between the Germans and the Allies to end the war on November 11, 1918.
On this day, 11.11.08, a day that many people are observing as a remembrance to fallen veterans and an opportunity to envision global unity, an enlightened, Los Angeles-based hip hop collective know as the Luminaries are offering up a contribution to the world peace movement by announcing the online debut of their video and single, 'Peace', winner of the 'Best Editing' accolade at the 2008 Elevate Film Festival
The 5th Annual Elevate Film Festival was held on Sunday, October 5th, 2008 and was consciously uplifting and inspirational from start to finish. Kicking it off in grand Hollywood- style with an eco-friendly twist, directors, producers and cast members posed for photos and stopped for interviews on the 'Green Carpet'.
There were some exceptional music videos, including 'Peace' from the Luminaries, 'Mama Filipina' by apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas, and a sparse and moving, blues rendition of 'America The Beautiful', performed by Grammy-award winning Keb Mo, laid beneath images of human beings of all ethnicities living in harmony.
As the Luminaries release this song today, with the resounding mantra 'Peace worldwide starts from inside', they help provide a solution to the blight of war by empowering themselves and others to create peace within, and to bring that peace to relationships with family, community, and society. We are all one, and must seize this truth in order to thrive on Earth.
'Peace' is now available as a single worldwide on iTunes, and the video presented here is the award-winning original cut from the 2008 Elevate Film Festival, but will only be available for a limited time.
