November 25, 1963. The nation watches as John F. Kennedy is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Bobby sinks into a deep, debilitating depression born out of the suspicion that it was his actions that might have caused Jack’s assassination. With Lyndon Johnson now in office, Jackie prepares to leave the White House. Memories of Jack come flooding back as she abandons her old life. Bobby spends more time with her, leaving Ethel feeling jealous and abandoned. Bobby seeks solace from Jackie, and their relationship becomes more and more intense. Ultimately, though, he realizes his life is with Ethel and his children. Jackie urges him to make his return to public life – for the good of the country. A year later, he wins the NY Senate race and begins his bid for the presidency. In 1968, after winning the decisive California primary, Robert Kennedy is shot and killed. Standing in Arlington, Jackie remembers better days when the family was inseparable. In Hyannis Port, Joe and Rose are alone, their family’s greatest triumph to carry on after such tragedy.

Lee Harvey Oswald assembles a rifle in his Dallas home. All that follows plays out against the backdrop of this, the last day of Jack's life. A flashback to three months earlier reveals Jack and Jackie bonding in a way they never have before, united by mutual grief over the loss of their newborn child. Meanwhile, Bobby is informed of evidence romantically linking Jack to the late Marilyn Monroe who, a year earlier, sung JFK "Happy Birthday" at Madison Square Garden, then told Bobby she wanted to have John's baby. Now it's up to Bobby to deal with the incriminating evidence - which prompts a heated argument between him and Ethel. As we return to present day, the countdown to tragedy continues.
