TomKat Gives Village Never-ending Kiss-off

While those who actually attended the Saturday wedding between Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have had the image of the nuptials-ending (and quickly coined) "never-ending kiss" between man and wife burned into their retinas, residents of the lakeside town of Bracciano, Italy, are grumbling that they didn’t see the famed fawners at all, even though their Odescalchi Castle hosted the event. "I'm really disappointed," Reuters quotes one villager as saying. "It would have been fair to say at least a little hello from far away." In fact, one local paper on Sunday bore the headline: "Tom and Katie: The Invisible Newlyweds." And on that note, we all moved to Bracciano. read more

TomKat Wedding Snubs Oprah, But Not Brooke

Since his last appearance on her talk show nearly ruined his career (not to mention a perfectly good sofa), it isn't surprising that Tom Cruise chose not to ask Oprah Winfrey to attend his and Katie Holmes' Saturday wedding. "It's not that I'm not going," Oprah spins it for Extra. "It's that they had a limited number of people that they could invite. [But] that's fine. I don't get invited to everyone's wedding, [and] I don't invite [Tom and Katie] to everything I do." Adding insult to injury, the New York Post reports that Brooke Shields, of all people, made the cut! In further nuptial news, while Liz Smith whispers that there will be no media at the event, the groom's flack assures her, "That isn't to say that it won't be covered — pictures and stories will appear, but none of [the coverage] will be sold, for charity or otherwise." read more

Has Katie Holmes Said "No Thank You" to Oscar?

Sources close to Tom Cruise's bride-to-be tell the New York Post's Page Six that with the Oscar nomination-hunting season now underway, Fox Searchlight Pictures offered to put Katie Holmes' name out there for consideration, for her role in Thank You for Smoking. Holmes' "handlers," however, are said to have "respectfully declined" the offer, perhaps due to the raunchy nature of her sex scene with Aaron Eckhart. You know, her career did have some potential there for a bit. read more

Episode 7: Branch Closing

Jenna Fischer thinks that this week's episode of The Office [Thursdays at 8:30 pm/ET, on NBC] is the best yet, and I concur! Yes, I'm Kate Flannery. Thank you. Thank you so much. I play the drunken redhead on the show, who seems to be the favorite of many folks. There is so much I want to share with you, so much I want to tell, but I am contractually obligated to keep my big, fat mouth shut. Now, in case you hadn't noticed, the words "branch" and "closing" are in the title of this week's episode. Kind of gives it away, right? So, let me just say that the downsizing issue of the first two seasons is nothing compared to this.Jenna speaks more freely about it in her MySpace.com blog: "You must catch our show this Thursday night. I've already seen it, and it is the best one we've ever done. I'm not kidding. Michael finds out that the Scranton branch is being shut down. He and Dwight go to New York to try to save the branch. The stuff they do together is the absolute funniest thing ever ... read more

That's almost three full weeks after the street date for the Mission: Impossible III DVD, so be gone with your snarky suggestions of publicity stunt and whatnot. read more

Tom Cruise

In an interview airing Friday on ABC's Primetime, Tom Cruise shrugged off talk of a rift between him and pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes' devout parents, claiming he's close with "the whole family" and that they "absolutely" are OK with his Scientology faith. Speaking of which, Cruise confirmed that his and Holmes' baby will not have a Catholic baptism. "You can be Catholic and be a Scientologist. But we're just Scientologists," he pointed out. First things read more

Let's go for the hat trick and talk about TomKat. In a new poll at Parade.com, 84 percent of respondents blame the media for the negative press Tom Cruise has received in the year since he began squiring Katie Holmes. That's right — not the couch and not Matt Lauer's familiarity with psychiatry, but the media. Hopefully, Marilyn vos Savant voted the other way. read more

Dotson Rader, who interviewed expectant parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes for Parade, reveals that "Holmes... seemed dazed, passive and vacant" during the sit-down. "She never stopped smiling... [even] as Cruise described how his father beat him." I'd say the New York Post sums it up best: "Creepy." read more
