Mega Buzz: Scandal's Misdirect, The Newsroom's New Outlook and a Sons Death?

Kerry Washington, Jeff Daniels, Katey Sagal

Each week, executive editor Adam Bryant satisfies your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

Now that Jake has been arrested, please tell me that Olivia will finally find out that Rowan was behind Jerry's death on Scandal. — Denise

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that reveal is coming any time soon. "You always think it can't go on any longer, but they twist it in a way you didn't even think of," star Brian Letscher, who plays Tom, teases of the (inevitable?) reveal. "Rowan is a master manipulator .... and the ripple effects of Tom [saying Jake ordered him to kill Jerry] affect a lot of people in ways he never imagined."

Got anything about the final season of The Newsroom? — Ashley

The season premiere is set around the events of the Boston Marathon bombing and, owing to ACN's screw-up with the Operation Genoa story last season, everyone is appropriately gun shy about reporting the "facts" of the story too quickly... read more

Critic's Notebook: Checking In On Flash, Jane, Forever, Sons

Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin

One of the trickier aspects of reviewing TV during a new fall season is judging series based solely on their pilot episodes. It's better to have more in advance, but not always an option. So while I was pleasantly surprised that two of my favorite new shows, The Flash and Jane the Virgin, were on The CW, I was also a bit nervous that they might not be able to sustain.

New Season Reviews: Gracepoint, A to Z, Bad Judge; Also, a Bitter-Sweets Bones

David Tennant, Anna Gunn

The best stories tend to convey universal truths with, presumably, a universal appeal. But I'm still having trouble with Fox's not-quite-new mystery drama that I keep calling Gracechurch — an inadvertent mash-up of its actual title (Gracepoint) and that of the superb British series it so slavishly copies: Broadchurch, a BBC America import that was No. 3 on my Top 10 list of 2013. (Here's my initial review of the original.)

A to Z Will Be Your New Favorite "Relationship Comedy"

Cristin Milioti, Ben Feldman

A to Z creator Ben Queen won't share what will happen to Andrew and Zelda after eight months on his new NBC comedy, but he can guarantee one thing.

"I can promise she won't die," Queen tells TVGuide.com. "Cristin [Milioti] is a delight. I want to keep her around."

Milioti — who is "very flattered" by the outrage at her How I Met Your Mother fate — plays Zelda, the "Z" to Andrew's (Ben Feldman) "A" on the comedy (premieres Thursday, 9:30/8:30c). She's a tough-as-nails lawyer who doesn't believe in love. He's a heart-on-his-sleeve hopeless romantic who sings Celine Dion in the car and is convinced that he saw Zelda in a silver dress at a party two years ago. "They will date for eight months, three weeks, five days and one hour," omniscient narrator Katey Sagal tells us. "This television program is the comprehensive account of their relationship from A to Z."

Fall TV: Hot scoop on your favorite returning shows

The almost-too-clever set-up sounds like (500) Days of How I Met Your Mother, which is fine with Queen as a shorthand. "I see the comparisons. I don't ...

Sons of Anarchy's Final Ride: Jax No Longer Cares About Being the Good Guy

Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal

On a sunny mid-July day on the Sons of Anarchy's North Hollywood set, there's a lot of people talking about the end. And, surprisingly for a show this bloody, they're not talking about death.

That's because, come November, the cameras will stop rolling for good and the bikers of FX's highest-rated drama of all time will ride off — sunset TBD — for the final time. Many have put thinking about the end of the series out of their minds. "I think everyone is in a healthy state of denial," Katey Sagal says with a laugh

Exclusive: Go Behind the Scenes of NBC's A to Z

Cristin Milioti, Ben Feldman

Want the 411 on A to Z?

NBC's new romantic comedy — you can watch the pilot now here — follows Andrew (Mad Men's Ben Feldman) and Zelda's (How I Met Your Mother's Cristin Milioti) relationship from beginning to end, a la (500) Days of Summer, but if you ask Feldman, the show is more than that.

"This is a relationship story, but it's also ...
