In order to go fight with Nelliel, Pesche and Dondochakka summon all their strength. Their newfound strength is a result of the training they continued even after leaving Las Noches so that they could protect the unconscious Nelliel. Pesche and Dondochakka save Uryu and Renji, who were being toyed with at Szayelaporro’s will. Szayelaporro is taken aback by Pesche and Dondochakka’s new selves, and then they bring out their combining technique!

On his way to collect some bamboo shoots necessary for making pickles, Naruto comes upon an injured youth who has lost his memory. Tsunade insists that it's dangerous to have an unidentified stranger staying in the village. But Naruto is impressed by the young man's kindness and insists on allowing the boy to stay.

It is revealed that the Mock Arrancar gained an explosive amount of strength when it devoured Yui and has reanimated her soul to use her as bait to lure and attack human souls. While the Mock Arrancar attempts to absorb Shota's soul, it is met with a counterstrike from Rangiku. Cornered, the Mock Arrancar continues to multiply in order to better its odds against the highly skilled advance troops.

Unable to find Naruto, Anko and the others meet with officials from the Land of the Sea. The ship carrying government funds that they were supposed to guard sets sail the next day!
