Relay station agent 'Wild' Bill Hickok (Roy Rogers) is assigned to protect a secret shipment of gold. He entrusts the job to his friends Gabby (George 'Gabby' Hayes) and 'Calamity' Jane Canary (Sally Payne), who transport the gold disguised as horse herders. Jane has eyes for Bill, but his heart belongs to Louise Mason (Julie Bishop), the daughter of a Southern military officer. When Bill reveals the plan to Louise, she mistakenly gives the information to undercover foreign agent Nicholas Tower (John Miljan) who has been sent to America to seize western land and gain control of California's gold. He steals the shipment and convinces authorities that Bill is the guilty party. With Jane's help, Bill escapes from jail and sets out to capture Tower and retrieve the gold. watch
