  • Made her stage debut at age 5 and starred in his first film, Jean-Luc Godard's Detective (1985) at 14.
  • Has written songs and plays the clarinet and guitar. Three songs ("A Waltz for a Night," "An Ocean Apart" and "J'aime tant") from her self-titled 2003 album were used in 2004's Before Sunset.
  • Early film work financed her trips to the U.S. After studying filmmaking at New York University in the late '80s, she moved to Los Angeles in 1992 and became a U.S. citizen in 2001.
  • Before turning 25, she had already worked with some of the world's greatest directors, including Godard, Agnieszka Holland (1990's Europa Europa) Krysztof Kieslowski (1993's Blue) and Volker Schlondorff (1991's Voyager).
