Good news, Big Brother fans (and for those of you who scoff at the show but watch anyway)!
Big Brother 11 will premiere Thursday, July 9 at 8 pm/ET on CBS, the network announced. Beginning July 12, the show will air three nights a week — Sundays at 8 pm, Tuesdays at 9 pm and Thursdays at 8 pm.

Big Brother host Julie Chen will no longer just babysit reality TV stars.
Chen announced on The Early Show that she and husband Leslie Moonves are expecting their first child. The baby is due October 4.
Never fear, Big Brother fans: Chen said the pregnancy will not keep her from her weekly hosting duties for the 11th cycle of the show, airing this summer.

They usually go all out when customizing the new digs for the contestants on Big Brother, but CBS really out-did themselves this time around. Season 10's cast will be living in home where many of the rooms represent a different decades complete with kitschy '50s, hippy '60s and punk rock '80s. The outhouse-style bathroom with barrel sinks gets our vote for most creative, but then again, the leather-and-zipper bedding set in the '80s bedroom definitely comes in at a close second.

Question: As a fan of your column, I know you dislike Big Brother, and I won't try to sway your opinion, but I have to say that I've been disappointed by how CBS has handled recent controversies about their reality shows like BB and Kid Nation. Every year I expect one or two contestants to be irksome and display some repugnant behavior, but as I'm sure you've heard, many contestants this season have been either vapid, racist, sexist, abusive or all of the above. Amber made deplorable comments about Jewish people, but most of us only found out about them because of the controversy that erupted outside of the normal CBS airings of the show. At the very least, I expected CBS to allow Amber to defend herself during the Early Show morning-after interview that Julie Chen usually conducts with evicted HouseGuests, but now they have blocked all interviews with Amber and the rest of the cast until after the finale airs.
