Dancing Queen Julianne Hough to Sing on Stars

Audiences may be used to seeing Dancing pro Julianne Hough showing off her fancy footwork in flashy costumes, but now the blonde beauty will be adding singing to her DWTS job description. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, "Julianne will come back on the show, and she's going to be able to sing," says Kim DelGrosso, creative director of Orem's Center Stage dance studio where many of ABC's professional dancers from for the series have come from. The 19-year-old, who released her first self-titled country album earlier this year, had told The Salt Lake Tribune she didn't expect to return to Dancing With the Stars because she wanted to focus on her singing career, but sources say she's still under contract. The new season will premiere September 24th. Are you excited to see Hough return as a double threat? — Gina DiNunno read more

Julianne "Couldn't Be Happier" with Music Career

Is Julianne Hough's music career taking off? The two-time Dancing with the Stars champ sold 67,000 copies of her self-titled debut CD in its first week — "a robust start," says Billboard senior analyst Geoff Mayfield. "She has the third best-selling album on the Billboard 200 list and was No. 1 on the Top Country Albums." And get this: Since the album was released May 20 (the same day as the Dancing finale), Julianne couldn't hit the stores to buy it until the show wrapped! After singing the national anthem at the Indianapolis 500, Hough is ready to swap her dancing shoes for a microphone, at least for a while; she will tour with Brad Paisley beginning June 11. "I have a whole new life," she says. "It's going to completely change and I couldn't be happier. I'm on this roller coaster and I'm having so much fun." — Shawna MalcomMore on Julianne Hough:• Julianne Hough Steps in to Cohost CMA Festival • WATCH VIDEO: Dancing Pro Julianne Hough's Music Video • Danc... read more

Julianne: Adam Was "The Best Thing About This Season"

Adam Carolla and Julianne Hough by Kelsey McNeal/ABC

Sometimes it's useful to look back on the mindset of someone who is about to jump off the cliff known as Dancing with the Stars. Take Adam Carolla, who was the fourth star voted out Tuesday night. Before he learned his first step — before he even met his pro partner, Julianne Hough — he marveled at how a comedian with two left feet ended up on the most famous dance floor in America. Now that he's gone through the fire, Carolla believes that facing the terror of spandex and rhinestones was worth it. "I gotta say, we were about to do our [encore] and I was backstage actually looking forward to it. The first night, I was petrified. But the last night, tonight, I thought, 'This is going to be fun. Mission accomplished.'""He was the best thing about this season," says Hough. And while that statement may be debated, it's clear that Carolla is going to be sorely missed. "He added so much to the show!" moaned Marissa Jaret Winokur. "I don't know what I'm going to do without him ba... read more

Backstage at Dancing with the Stars: Ryan Seacrest?!

Bruno Tonioli by Kelsey McNeal/ABC

Judge Bruno Tonioli was in rare form Tuesday night. In an interview with TV Guide just moments after the show, he let loose on the male stars of Season 6, calling them "lazy bastards." Apart from R&B star Mario, Tonioli says he was not impressed by the quality of dancing on the season-opener. "I'm so relieved seeing the girls," says Tonioli, "because the boys needed a kick in the ass. Mario was the only one who really sparkled. The others? They were lazy bastards. Sorry, but it's true. They did the dances, but not enough. You're not going to get away with that on Dancing with the Stars. And if you try, we're going to go after you."This isn't the first time, of course, that the first dances of the season have been less than stellar.... The efforts of Master P., Kenny Mayne and Billy Ray Cyrus come to mind. So why is Tonioli so wound up this time? Maybe because now, Dancing is the No. 2 show in the land and we've grown to expect more. Maybe it's because on Tuesday night, the show ... read more
