  • December 5, 2006: Willy Ward | TV Show Recaps | 12/6/2006
Weeks ago, when Escobar said goodbye to Sean and told him, "We're even now," and that he wouldn't be back, you knew that was too good to be true. Tonight, after James shot herself to death, you knew that would not be the end of Michelle's troubles. But who knew James would be working for Escobar? Nice twist. Now Escobar wants Michelle to take over for James. That's not going to fit into Christian and Michelle's perfect new family life with little Wilber. We all knew as soon as Michelle got into... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • November 28, 2006: Reefer | TV Show Recaps | 11/29/2006
So, right away I was thinking: "It's not even December — why are we getting a Christmas episode already?" Then I remembered that we only have two more episodes left for this season, the season finale airs as early as December 12, and December begins this Friday. Happy holidays! Actually, this episode was more like Halloween meets Christmas. I'd like to officially place Jacqueline Bisset's James character in the category of TV's all-time creepiest characters. As soon as Sean asked Reefer... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • November 21, 2006: Diana Lubey | TV Show Recaps | 11/22/2006
There are two types of Nip/Tuck dream sequences. The first is the kind used on most TV shows — when a character is asleep and is dreaming (or having a nightmare), and we get to watch what they're dreaming about. The second is the kind we've been seeing more and more on this show, and it usually involves Christian or Sean. They either have a daydream or a hallucination — they're just envisioning someone in the room and that certain someone talks to them and sometimes Christian or Sean... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • November 14, 2006: Conor McNamara, 2026 | TV Show Recaps | 11/15/2006
Well that was a nice change of pace. I've got to ask right away, though, did any of you get a Back To The Future vibe? I kept waiting for them to call each other "McFly" or to have a senior-ized Lea Thompson walk in or for Christian to ask Sean, "What are you lookin' at, butthead?" Kidding, but yet not — the makeup reminded me of that classic flick. I kept thinking how unrealistic it was for Sean and Julia to not get Conor's other hand done. Why would Sean, so obsessed with his own... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • November 7, 2006: Merrill Bobolit | TV Show Recaps | 11/8/2006
Let me get this out of the way: Merrill Bobolit was always a real pain in the ass to McNamara/Troy. Who knew he'd come to them because of a (wait for it)... real pain in the ass! OK. I feel much better. And I hope Bobolit felt much better after his anal-retread surgery. Ouch. When he walked in very slowly as though he was in agony, I knew right away his pain had to be due to his being repeatedly raped in prison. I didn't expect him to admit that he became Escobar's "prison wife," and that... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • October 31, 2006: Liz Cruz | TV Show Recaps | 11/1/2006
You knew it was inevitable that Michelle would maneuver Burt's death, but I didn't think it would be so soon. I was really digging Larry Hagman in the role, but this doesn't mean he can't come back for some fabulous Nip/Tuck dream sequences. When Michelle told Francis the nurse to go home and that she'd take care of giving Burt his pills, I knew Michelle was lying. Poor Burt had to crawl out of bed and attempt the stairs by himself just to try to take those dang pills. Too late. Burt died a... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • October 24, 2006: Conor McNamara | TV Show Recaps | 10/25/2006
I always know I'm going to like an episode of any TV show when they include flashbacks to the childhood of one of the characters, especially when we get to learn something new about that character. That was the case tonight when we discovered that Sean himself had a facial deformity as a youth and had plastic surgery to correct it. No wonder he's been freaking out about Conor's situation and about his eventual corrective surgery. As Julia told Sean: "That kid is why you're a plastic surgeon."... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • October 17, 2006: Burt Landau | TV Show Recaps | 10/18/2006
It's been a while since we've gotten an episode with a happy ending. Of course, the heartwarming end came after an hour sprinkled with evil, so it was quite worth it. Let me first say that I was surprised when Christian admitted to Kimber that he was just using her for sex. The "using Kimber for sex" part was not what threw me — it was that he was so cruel about it. All this time Christian's been wooing and romancing Michelle, I’ve been thinking that Kimber is who he's truly in love... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • October 10, 2006: Faith Wolper, Ph.D. | TV Show Recaps | 10/11/2006
Well, Sean certainly got his wish. His conscience, in the form of Escobar (Robert LaSardo) told him to kill Monica, suggesting he slit her throat or gas her. Then, poof! A bus ran into her and killed her. I screamed: "No f---ing way!" while my roommate Jason shouted: "Sooooo Mean Girls!" It's those shocker scenes I enjoy the most on this show. Dylan Walsh did a fantastic job showing how frustrated Sean was getting and Jennifer Hall played the perfect psycho. Monica morphed into Alex Forrest... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • October 3, 2006: Dawn Budge | TV Show Recaps | 10/4/2006
If you missed last week's episode, I can only imagine you were confused with this week's ending — now we know James (Jacqueline Bisset) and her mysterious company are the ones behind those organ thefts in the Miami area. Her "escort company" isn't really an escort company — after her employees get their victims in a drugged-up state, James comes over and removes one of their organs! Lovely. I don't know why I hadn't figured it out since last week I thought for sure that Michelle had... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • September 19, 2006: Monica Wilder | TV Show Recaps | 9/20/2006
First things first: A.C. Slater's got a nice ass! Did I ever think I'd type that anywhere? I suppose that's what you get when you spend most of your time Dancing with the Stars and being Bold & Beautiful. I think you'll all agree that Mario Lopez has aged quite well. Whether I buy him as a plastic surgeon is a different story. I did like that Mario's character, Dr. Mike, told Christian how he's able to look so good (besides working out every day): "I don't eat." And more dialogue I found... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • September 12, 2006: Blu Mondae | TV Show Recaps | 9/13/2006
I figured right away that I'd like this episode after I heard "Hot Child in the City" by Nick Gilder (a song I've performed at several karaoke joints here in L.A.) being played at the strip club that Christian was frequenting. Oh, Christian. Brooke Shields suggested he might be gay last week so, of course, he heads to the strippers. We all knew that as soon as Blu Mondae (former Playboy playmate Angela Little) found out Christian was a plastic surgeon, they'd be in bed together, and, poof cut... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • September 5, 2006: Cindy Plumb (Season 4 Premiere) | TV Show Recaps | 9/6/2006
Can you believe it’s been eight and a half months since we last saw a new episode of this show? That’s more than twice the amount of time we have to wait to see the average show when it goes on hiatus. But as we all know, Nip/Tuck is no average show. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely... and I, of course, will tell you just why:– First of all, you knew it had to be good since Ryan Murphy came back to write and direct it. Oh, wait a minute — I take that back. Ryan wrote and... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • Which FX show is your ... | Matt Roush | 12/19/2005
Question: Which FX show is your favorite? Also, am I the only one who believes that FX should lobby for Julian McMahon receiving an Emmy for his work on Nip/Tuck this season? Answer: Don't hold your breath about Nip/Tuck and the Emmys. This season was even more over-the-top than usual, and the Emmys are much more likely to favor more mainstream fare. I greatly enjoy Julian McMahon on Nip/Tuck, but if I had to pick one FX show to get all the Emmy love next year, it would have to be Rescue Me,... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • Since this is the first time ... | Matt Roush | 9/23/2005
Question: Since this is the first time that I've ever really felt passionate about the Emmy Awards, I have to ask you  — how can you stand it? Not only did I see my favorites lose, but my second choices as well. Terry O'Quinn and Alan Alda lost to Captain Kirk. Tony Shalhoub beat Jason Bateman and Zach Braff (and Ray Romano, for that matter). James Spader beat Hugh Laurie, Ian McShane and Kiefer Sutherland... Holy crap, Lost just won best drama. Forget I said anything. Emmy... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • What the hell!?!? How could ... | Matt Roush | 7/18/2005
Question: What the hell!?!? How could voters ignore everyone on Nip/Tuck, especially Julian McMahon and Famke Janssen, Denis Leary of Rescue Me, Matthew Fox on Lost, Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Mary Lynn Rajskub of 24 and the true comedic stars of the last half of DH's first season, Eva Longoria and the underused and underappreciated Nicollette Sheridan. I can't believe the dismal Will & Grace continues to score nominations. Damn! What were these people watching?... read more be the first to leave a comment
