Judd Hirsch Fast Facts:
  • First professional stage appearance was in the 1964 summer stock production of Herb Gardner's A Thousand Clowns; Broadway debut, two years later, was in Barefoot in the Park.
  • Originally wanted to play the role of Latka, not Alex, on Taxi.
  • While accepting his second Emmy for Taxi, he was anything but elated. "If you can't get [the show] out of your minds," he told the audience, "and you got to keep giving some kind of laurels to us, then you should really put us back on the air." But NBC, which picked up the series after ABC cancelled it, didn't.
  • David Krumholtz, who plays Hirsch's son on Numbers, also appeared as his progeny in the 1992 Broadway play Conversations with My Father at age 13.
