  • Made his film debut in 1985's The Goonies.
  • Played in a punk band in high school.
  • Was reportedly offered Johnny Depp's role of Tom Hanson in 21 Jump Street, but turned it down to star in the short-lived series Private Eye. 
  • In 2000, he won the 24th annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, an event his father won in 1978.
  • In December 2004, his wife Diane Lane called L.A. police after they had an argument. He was arrested on suspicion of spousal battery but the case was later dropped.
