Originals' Michael Trevino on Getting Revenge: Tyler Absolutely Has it In Him to Kill Hayley

Michael Trevino, Joseph Morgan

Tyler Lockwood has said his goodbyes to Mystic Falls and is heading on down to the Big Easy.

From sire bond to mortal enemies, the relationship between The Vampire Diaries' Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) took a sharp turn when Klaus killed Tyler's mom last season. Tyler attempted revenge, but when his plans went awry he was forced to leave town. But Klaus had one weak spot — Caroline (Candice Accola)  — and allowed Tyler to come back so that his love could be happy. With the damage already done and his path for vengeance ignited, Tyler ultimately chose seeking redemption over his girlfriend, college and a chance at a (somewhat) normal life. On Tuesday's episode of The Originals (8/7, The CW)— the first of the two shows crossing over —Tyler will face the Original baddie once again.

Charles Michael Davis and Joseph Morgan

How do you manipulate and defeat someone who knows you better than almost anyone else? That's the dilemma Klaus is facing on The Originals.

Although it's evident that there's a long history between Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and his former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), on last week's episode, viewers saw just how deep the bond goes. As Klaus was settling New Orleans in 1820, he watched a young slave being tortured. Turns out the boy, who didn't even have a name, was the product of the Governor's affair. Klaus felt a connection and took the boy, who he named Marcellus, under his wing.

Joseph Morgan

If Joseph Morgan's Originals character seems a little darker lately, it's because he's been listening to too much Game of Thrones.

The Thursday Playlist: Family Comedies and an Originals Spinoff

Samantha Isler, Sean Hayes

This fall you can really feel the Modern Family influence in the development of most networks' new comedy slates, and it's especially noticeable on NBC's Thursday lineup. With the exception of the long-running Parks and Recreation, which until the double expectancy whammy of Ann Perkins and Ron's Diane had been curiously child-free for a show supposedly set in America's heartland, NBC's new sitcoms are very much in the family way, for better or worse.

One actually bills itself as Welcome to the Family (8:31/7:31c), and if familiarity is a prerequisite for your viewing patterns, you'll feel right at home here. This innocuous domestic farce pivots on a culture clash between... read more

The Originals

With its focus on power dynamics and war, The Originals appears to be the grown-up version of The Vampire Diaries. But executive producer Julie Plec promises the show will be chock-full of romance and angst too.

"The maturity of The Originals is rooted in a lot of that mafia-like tone, but when all is said and done, it's got not only the power of the family drama, but a romantic and bro-mantic history amongst all these characters."
