Dissecting Alcatraz's Mysteries: How Many '63s Are Working With Hauser?

Jorge Garcia

Alcatraz's second outing didn't offer up as many new mysteries as the series premiere, but the few that were dished out were enough to whet our appetites for more.

Instead, the episode featured Hauser (Sam Neill), Rebecca (Sarah Jones) and Diego (Jorge Garcia) on the hunt for notorious child killer Kit Nelson (Fringe's Michael Eklund), who happens to be one of the missing '63s, a group of prisoners who mysterious disappeared from Alcatraz island in 1963.

Parminder Nagra's reaction to Alcatraz premiere: "Already? You're killing me off?"

Kit's eventual capture did bring up a few new questions, though. Let's take a look at the new mysteries Alcatraz introduced this week: read more

Parminder Nagra's Reaction to Alcatraz Premiere: "Already? You're Killing Me Off?"

Parminder Nagra

Despite being shot by a sniper in the two-hour series premiere of Alcatraz, Dr. Lucy Banerjee will not mysteriously disappear from J.J. Abrams' new Fox drama — which is, of course, a relief to her portrayer, Parminder Nagra.

Dissecting Alcatraz's Mysteries: Who Are the '63s?

Sarah Jones and Jorge Garcia

From the purveyor of mystery series that keep audiences scratching their heads — Alias and Rambaldi, Lost and the island, Felicity and her hair — J.J. Abrams has debuted another mystifying series, Alcatraz.

The new show focuses on the notorious San Francisco prison. It's 1963, and more than 300 guards and prisoners vanish into thin air. In each episode, one of these hardened criminals, called "the '63s," will reappear in 2012 without having aged. San Francisco cop Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones), Diego Soto (Lost alum Jorge Garcia) — an academic who's an expert on The Rock — federal Agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) and his mysterious associate Lucy Banerjee (Parminder Nagra) team up to find them before they can enact their anachronistic justice.

Alcatraz's J.J. Abrams: New Fox drama is on an island, but it's not Lost

Along the way, Alcatraz will raise questions. Namely, where did they disappear to, and who's pulling the strings behind their reappearance? To keep track of the questions and attempt to find insight into what could be the answers, we've compiled a list of the big mysteries Alcatraz introduced in the two-hour series premiere... read more

Monday TV in Review: Alcatraz, Lost Girl, Being Human and More

Anna Silk

Something less than a great escape, Fox's intriguing but formulaic Alcatraz (8/7c), from members of Lost's brain trust, proves a fairly tough "Rock" to crack. Basically a procedural with a 4400-style fantasy gimmick, this twists the America's Most Wanted concept by having its parade ...

Alcatraz's J.J. Abrams: New Fox Drama Is On an Island, But It's Not Lost

Alcatraz

J.J. Abrams is heading back to an island, just not the island.

"In theory, any land mass is an island, so you could argue that every show ever made [is like Lost]," Abrams told reporters at the winter TV previews. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show was much like Lost!"

That said, the man who brought ABC's island mystery to life has set his sights on another land mass for Fox's Alcatraz.

Alcatraz focuses on a day in 1963 at the notorious San Francisco prison when more than 300 guards and prisoners vanished into thin air. In each episode... read more
