Miley Cyrus and Hayden Panettiere by Steve Grantiz/WireImage.com
Shrieks and slime filled UCLAs Pauley Pavilion as Jack Black, Miley Cyrus, Shia LeBoeuf, Jessica Alba and many, many more took center stage at the annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. The first victim claimed by the green goo was Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, but before the night was over Mummy star Brendan Fraser and heartthrob Orlando Bloom would also be covered in gooey goodness. The orange carpet, with its usual displays of playful fashion and eardrum-busting noise, was a chance for celebrity parents to share the spotlight with their kids. Brad Garrett ('Til Death)and Jodie Foster had both claimed tickets after taking part in kid-friendly movies. For Garrett the question wasnt whether playing Underdog gave him more clout with his kids, or whether it was getting tickets to the show. Being the animated dog helped get tickets for this show," he says. "Im a big kid, too, so I love it! Foster, who has only made one movie her kids are allo...

Hey guys! Erin Fox here again. First off, I still have no news about Nina and her baby... which means she's dealing with some seriously long labor! I thought for sure she'd have him last night, but alas, Baby Boy Hammerling-Smith is a stubborn little guy. Send lots of positive thoughts her way! Secondly, I know all about Chikezie-gate 2008. I swear he was not left out intentionally, it was just computer error
as in my computer kept crashing and I had to keep re-entering my recap (it was not a fun time at my house late last night!). Poor Chikezie was temporarily dissed, but I made sure to add him back as soon as I could. Now, I have to admit something: I hate the elimination shows. I never watch them. I just can't stand the cheesy group numbers and bad product placement videos. But, let's hope they prove me wrong, and I'm thoroughly entertained. We start with Ryan making a pretty huge announcement: The four mentors this year include, Dolly Parton, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Neil Diamo...

Jordin Sparks, Alicia Keys and Ryan Seacrest by Frank Micelotta/Getty Images
Jeers to Fox for allowing American Idol to tarnish its Super Bowl pre-game show. The network enlisted Ryan Seacrest to emcee insipid red-carpet coverage of celebrities arriving at the big game. He annoyingly referred to Hugh Laurie (who looked like he was being held at gunpoint to promote House's supercool post-Super Bowl episode) as "Dr. House." Have a little respect, Ryan the guy's an award-winning actor, not Urkel! Then Paula Abdul debuted her new single, "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" (if only that were true for her career) with a pre-taped performance so listless, it made Britney's VMA sleepwalk look like Michael Jackson at Motown 25. (Watch video here.) Randy Jackson, whose new album (!) includes the song, stood off to the side and played bass, despite earlier threats that he, too, would dance. And last season's Idol champ, Jordin Sparks, "sang" the national anthem (though it looked suspiciously like lip-syncing). They all could learn a lesson from Tom Petty and the H...

The Shot at Love hoochie will count down to midnight for MTV as ringleader of Tila Tequila's New Year's Eve Masquerade 2008, featuring partygoers ranging from the sublime (Mary J. Blige, Wyclef, Paramore) to the ridiculous (Kid Rock, Perez Hilton). Of course, how literally the MySpace case will interpret the dropping of the ball remains to be seen and, odds are, will have to be seen to be believed.... Fox has added Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Lifehouse to the list of performers for its New Year's Eve Live. The Cat Deeley-hosted special will also feature the premiere of Mariah Carey's "Shake It Off" video. Ben Katner

The results are in, and the New York State Labor Department has dinged 19 Touring LLC, the outfit that runs the American Idols Live tour, to the tune of (a "whopping") $5,000, for failing to secure the proper permits when the show came to the Empire State. According to the New York Daily News, a labor-department staffer who also is a fan of Idol and thus knew that both Jordin Sparks and Sanjaya Malakar were just 17 at the time of their New York stop sniffed around and discovered that 19 Touring did not, as required, register with the state so that they could be monitored for compliance with child-labor laws. As a result, Fox's idea of an "Idol Nation" reality show now seems a long shot.
