Finale Watch: Dexter and the Race

As big finishes go, Dexter's was a nail-biter, leaving us pretty breathless — though tripping over at least a few loose ends along the way. The Amazing Race on the other hand coasted to its finish line with minimal suspense — but maximum satisfaction in crowning the first all-female champs, the likable doctor duo of Nat and Kat, who stayed comfortably in first place for the entire last leg. The unflappably perky Home Shopping hosts Brook and Claire landed in second, amusing themselves and the audience all the way to the end. Everyone seemed pleased, and even the ultra-competitive last-guy-standing Thomas (who ran afoul of an L.A. cabbie who'd never heard of the Internet) took his defeat like a pro.

Previewing Dexter's Killer Finale

Girls are being raped, tortured and stuffed into barrels. A self-help guru named Jordan (Jonny Lee Miller) is definitely up to no good. And somehow, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) and his new partner-in-crime, Lumen (Julia Stiles), are finding time for a little nookie.

It's been a bloody good run this season on Dexter, and the finale is shaping up to be a jab-and-stabber of epic proportions. "Usually, Dexter is alone in seeking vengeance, but now he's got Lumen at his side so it's double the trouble," says executive producer Sara Colleton.

Julia Stiles: There's Something "Oddly Romantic" About Dexter and Lumen

On Dexter, nothing sets up a good sex scene like murder.

In last week's episode, after Dexter (Michael C. Hall) helped rape victim Lumen (guest star Julia Stiles) get her first taste of revenge by killing one of her tormentors, the duo hit the sheets, becoming more than just partners in crime. But Stiles found a certain poetry in the juxtaposition of those two scenes.

"Lumen is the only person alive who sees Dexter's true self and accepts him. There's something oddly romantic about that, and also very intimate," Stiles tells TVGuide.com. "The reverse ...

4 Things to Know About Dexter's Final Four Episodes

Dexter's struggle to deal with Rita's death will come to a head in the final four episodes of Dexter, executive producer Sara Colleton tells TVGuide.com

So far this season, he has been working through his guilt by helping Lumen [Julia Stiles]. He's believed that if he can avenge the wrongs done to her, he might be able to figure out whether he can atone for his part in Rita's death, Colleton says. "All of that will be converging, along with a lot of jeopardy that no one could've anticipated, not even Dexter."

And while the producers don't feel pressure to top last season's shocking finale, Colleton says they want to make sure all of this season's puzzle pieces come together in a satisfying way. Here are four things you should know heading in to the Season 5 finale:

Why Does The New Season of Dexter Have So Many Guest Stars?

Dexter may have lost Rita and offed the Trinity Killer last season, but an onslaught of new faces will appear on the show this year.

Julia Stiles, Johnny Lee Miller and Peter Weller are just some of the people who will be paying Miami a visit.
