The Bachelorette's Chris Harrison on First Night Impressions and Which Guy to Watch For

Desiree Hartsock, Chris Harrison

Another Bachelorette premiere and another guy kicked out of the house before the very first rose ceremony.

On the Season 9 premiere on Monday, Desiree met the 25 men along on her journey to find love, but almost immediately realized one of them was definitely not for her. After asking Des to join him in the fantasy suite, Jonathan was swiftly given the boot.

The Bachelorette's Desiree: This is definitely a sexy season

"He was a good sacrificial lamb to set the tone for the season, because Des was able to look everyone in the eye and say, 'Don't mess with me. I want to have fun, but you better treat me like a lady or I will cut your balls off,'" host Chris Harrison tells TVGuide.com.

Bachelor's Chris Harrison: Weatherman's Rose Might Have Been Out of Pity

The Bachelorette

Week 3 of The Bachelorette reached new heights (and lengths) with Ali and her date Roberto walking a tightrope 20 stories high and Justin walking, on crutches, from the guys' mansion to Ali's quarters just to get alone time. So why are the guys hating on Justin, and why did Ali keep Jonathan the "Weatherman" despite their awkward kiss and his tears, yet choose to let go of Hunter? Host Chris Harrison weighs in.

TVGuide.com: Why did Ali give Weatherman a rose?
Chris Harrison: I don't know, I think it might be one of those things, and putting myself in the place of women...

Bachelorette's Chris Harrison calls Roberto's Appeal "the Second Coming of Antonio Banderas"

The Bachelorette - Ali Fedotowsky

The women on The Bachelor get a bad rap for their fighting, but this week's The Bachelorette proved that guys can be just as catty. Chris Harrison, who can be seen hosting Friday's 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee at 8/7c on ABC, explains to TVGuide.com that although Jonathan the weatherman got picked on, he's not a fan favorite, either. He also tells us why Ali is so gaga for Roberto.

TVGuide.com: What was up with Craig M. vs. the weatherman?
Chris Harrison: As much as I think we all felt a little sorry for Jonathan, he's not the fan favorite, either. You didn't see the guys exactly stand up and say...

I read the CBS upfront news ...

BJ and Tyler, The Amazing Race

Question: I read the CBS upfront news about moving Amazing Race to Sundays at 8 pm/ET. I don't care that they moved the night — again — but why Sunday night? It will be constantly overrun by football games that go long. People who record the show will get to see half of 60 Minutes and miss the end of Race, and I'm afraid it'll begin to lose its audience. This doesn't seem like a good move to me, but maybe I'm worrying prematurely. It is only May, after all. What are your initial thoughts about the new time slot? Answer: My biggest concern isn't the football overruns, which have been a factor in CBS' Sunday lineup for years. People are used to this and should be able to adjust accordingly — as in: set extra time on the VCR or manually set the DVR, or (here's a thought) watch it live. The biggest hurdle is that Race will be going head-to-head against another powerful reality series already established in the time period, ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which, like Race, is quite ... read more

Hello Matt. I like your ...

Question: Hello Matt. I like your column and hope you will print this question. I have been a huge fan of Amazing Race since about a quarter into its second season (I believe that was the one with Danny and Oswald, still my favorite AR team of all time). I know the family edition was uneven, but I fear the events of the May 3 episode might prove to be the show's undoing. What Eric and Jeremy did, canceling the cabs of both B.J. and Tyler and Ray and Yolanda, was so over the line in terms of sportsmanship and deception that it left me thoroughly disgusted. Furthermore, Joseph and Monica are fast becoming one of the most loathsome teams ever on the show (although I don't think anyone can top Jonathan and Victoria). They were all too happy to look the other way at the Frat Boys' slimy tactics, and then they have the nerve to whine and complain when the Hippies yielded them?!! I have never seen the show get this nasty and unpleasant, even during the Rob and Amber season. I was so angry ... read more

Are Race's Castoffs Fighting Mad?

Lake and Michelle, The Amazing Race

Lake and Michelle of CBS' The Amazing Race (Wednesdays at 8 pm/ET) have been called this season's Jonathan and Victoria. Argumentative. Snappy. They pecked at each other almost right up to the moment they were eliminated in Greece. Married for almost 15 years, the Mississippi dental team — he's a dentist, she's his office assistant — swear they're a lot nicer to each other in real life. No, really. TVGuide.com: Your accents are so charming — except for when you're mad!Lake: Well...Michelle: When else do you get to hear us talking? [Laughs] TVGuide.com: Speaking of that, Lake, you were really mean to Michelle. At one point in Greece you even said something like, "Bitch, just shut up!" How did you explain tha read more

Unanimous This show started off...

UnanimousThis show started off like a bad joke. Nine stereotypes walk into a bunker... and the religious stereotype says to the gay stereotype... well, you get the idea. Didn't The Real World cover all that religion-versus-gay stuff like 15 years ago? Been there, done that, and with much better-looking people. After watching the pilot, the only player I want to see with the $1.5 million is Steve, the trucker — everyone else came across as either vile or bland. Then again, Steve's "big!hidden!secret!" is probably that he kicks puppies as a hobby. So Kelly the minister said money was the root of all evil, but then goes on a reality show that gives away a huge cash prize and once claimed bankruptcy while hiding a six-figure nest egg in the bank. What, does she think God doesn't watch bad reality show read more

was faster than the quickstep with his off-the-cuff humor tonight — calling the rowdy audience soccer fans, warning the judges not to tell Drew Lachey he wasn't "in sync," suggesting that Master P start a line of dancing shoes. I was also tickled by the way George Hamilton was orchestrating all these little soap-operatic scenes for the moments just before the commercial. I'm glad some people are taking the competitive edge off things.

Lisa and Louis: I always thought of the rhumba as Baby and Johnny's dance from Dirty Dancing. Even without the lift, this was much dirtier. But what, dear god, is up with choosing that read more
