  • Debuted on Broadway in 1961 as Rolf Gruber — the Austrian teen who sings "I Am 16" with Liesl — in The Sound of Music.
  • Appeared with Robert Duvall in a 1965 off-Broadway production of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge; the director's assistant was Dustin Hoffman.
  • Four years later, he appeared opposite Hoffman in the groundbreaking 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy.

  • Estranged from his daughter Angelina Jolie since leaving her mother in the '70s, although the two briefly reconciled and appeared together in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
