VIDEO: Jon Stewart Rants Against Deep-Dish, Receives Dead-Fish Pizza from Rahm Emanuel

Jon Stewart

Move over, Fox News. Jon Stewart has a new target: deep-dish pizza.

The Daily Show host delivered an epic rant against Chicago-style pizza, calling it "tomato soup in a bread bowl. This is an above-ground marinara swimming pool for rats."

"I don't know whether to eat it or throw a coin in it and make a wish," Stewart continued. "And if I made a wish, it would be that I'd wish for some real f---in' pizza."

The Monday Playlist: Hostages Goes Crazy, HBO's Cannes-Do Attitude

Dylan McDermott and Toni Collette

Simplicity can be a helpful thing for an effective thriller — and that, sadly, is an attribute CBS's overwrought, underwatched Hostages (Monday, 10/9c) lacks altogether. The more complications this show introduces, the sillier it threatens to become. It's hard to imagine a subplot of less interest than the money problems of foxy hostage-taker Sandrine ...

Top Moments: Ted Meets the Mother (Sort Of) and Late Night's Epic Lip-Sync Battle

Josh Radnor, Cristin Milioti and Josh Radnor

Our top moments of the week:

13. Best Sexual Harassment: In an effort to win back her old office on The Mindy Project, Mindy convinces her new (and much less alcohol-tolerant) co-worker, Paul (James Franco) to a shots-off. When Mindy drinks Paul under the table, literally, she helps walk him home and leaves him, unconscious, at the door to his apartment. But not before the newly engaged Mindy decides to go in for a kiss. The minute she presses her lips against his, however, the drunk Paul yells "Whoa, mama! Help me! Whoa!"  Apparently that wasn't as good for him as it was for... read more

Top Moments: Richard Simmons Goes Crazy and Oprah's Big Hang-Up

Richard Simmons and Jimmy Kimmel

Our top moments of the week:

11. Best Arrival: Viewers say goodbye to 24/7 soccer coverage and hello to FX's new sister channel, FXX, in appropriate fashion. When FXX officially kicks off at 7 a.m. Monday morning, the reception begins to go out and the game footage interchanges with an image of a black leather couch. Suddenly, the black leather couch begins to move and out from the seams bursts a very hot and a very naked Danny DeVito in a classic It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia clip. Goal!

10. Most Surprising Twist: Mistresses' Karen thinks her nightmare is over after the wrongful-death lawsuit against her is dismissed, but then her medical license gets suspended for six months. Who ratted her out for sleeping with Thomas (not to mention helping him die)? Not Elizabeth, but her... read more

The Tuesday Playlist: Luther's Back, Along With Jon Stewart and Brian Williams

Idris Elba

Some like it rough — and TV doesn't get much rougher or darker than BBC America's brutally compelling crime drama Luther, mining new depths of depravity and tragedy in its third cycle (airing as a four-night miniseries this Tuesday through Friday at 10/9c, except Wednesday, when it airs an hour earlier as the lead-in to the even more shattering Broadchurch). Once again, Luther's Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning star Idris Elba attacks his signature role of the tormented, damaged London detective John Luther with raw magnetism. He has a way of absorbing others' pain and isn't afraid to inflict some of his own, but Luther's history of explosively reckless behavior has made him the target of a relentless Internal Affairs cop (the excellent David O'Hara), who tries to turn Luther's loyal partner Ripley (Warren Brown) against him.
