Conan Performs "200 Feet" Away From Ex-NBC Bosses in New York

Conan O'Brien

Conan O'Brien brought his Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour to within "200 feet" of NBC headquarters Tuesday with a New York City performance that included a dance-off with his soon-to-be timeslot competitors, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

Conan O'Brien debuts on stage with Self-Pleasuring Panda

O'Brien's Radio City Music Hall show was an especially sweet spot on the 32-city tour because it returned him to the city where he hosted Late Night with Conan O'Brien for 16 years. He was just down the street from 30 Rockefeller Plaza, home of his old studio.

Hope for Haiti Now Telethon Takes Over TV for Earthquake Relief

Bono and Jay-Z

"The Haitian people need our help," said George Clooney, to begin Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief. "They need to know that they are not alone. They need to know that we still care."

Springsteen, Jay-Z, Timberlake, Swift sign on for Haiti telethon

The remarks from Clooney, the event's organizer, and a stirring opening performance by Alicia Keys set the mood for a night of actors, musicians and sports stars coming together to plead for aid to the earthquake-ravaged country.

Keys' performance — played over images of the destruction in Haiti —  was just one of many emotional touchstones in a show that also provided... read more

Daily Show Goes to Iran

Jason Jones in Iran: Access of Evil

Can the Daily Show find the humor in absolutely anything? Audiences will find out next week when the show's Jason Jones reports from Iran on the divide between the Middle Eastern nation and the U.S.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran. For most Americans, the name conjures up images of angry Ayatollahs, mobs chanting 'Death to America' and now possible election corruption, but is this a fair representation?" the show said in an unusually serious-sounding news release Tuesday. read more

Jon Stewart Talks Cramer Throwdown

Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart knew taking on CNBC's talking heads would be good for laughs, but even he was surprised at how big the showdown got.

"It was this small thing. We saw this guy, Rick Santelli, ranting about homeowners and the poor judgment they showed," Stewart told during the Blue School Gala in New York. "So this simple thing, where it was saying your judgment is up for discussion — somehow it ... read more

Right on the Money: Jon Stewart Blasts Jim Cramer

Jim Cramer and Jon Stewart

President elect Barack Obama, Vice-President elect Joe Biden

It was an historic night, and the networks mostly made us proud -- except for a handful of gaffes and some sci-fi-like technology they should maybe save for a brighter tomorrow. Here's our look at the most powerful, ridiculous, and notable moments of Election Night 2008. read more's Top TV Moments of the Week

Hayden Panettiere by Chris Haston/NBC Photo, Lacey Schwimmer and Lance Bass by Kelsey McNeal/ABC, Jon Stewart by Kevin Fitzsimons/Comedy Central

Broken codes, meaningless kisses, and Spencer Pratt being obnoxious — it must be another week in the wonderful world of television. Here’s our list of the top moments:12. Most Desperate Dance: Lance Bass kisses a girl — and he likes it. The former 'N Syncer and his Dancing with the Stars partner Lacey Schwimmer spice up their paso doble with Katy Perry's bi-curious pop confection and a "controversial" man-woman kiss, a less-than-subtle wink at Bass’ much-discussed sexuality. Check it out on our Online Video Guide.11. Biggest Code Violation: Dexter kills a man outside of his father’s code for the first time — and he’s a prosecutor’s brother. 10. Most Awkward Office Interaction: Mad Men's alcoholic Freddy Rumsen’s colleagues are divided between pity, horror, and excessive laughter when he wets his pants just before a big presentation. The awkwardness is almost rivaled later, when Rumsen acknowledges in his goodbye to Don that his mandatory... read more

Cheers: Meet the Press Secretary

Cheers to Jon Stewart for conducting the best interview yet with Scott McClellan. Bush's ex-press secretary has been everywhere promoting his book What Happened ("he even pushed it on Deadliest Catch," quipped Stewart's cohort Stephen Colbert). But the Daily Show wiseguy didn't just rehash McClellan's charges and the White House's countercharges. He asked McClellan to analyze the administration's campaign against him ("how would you destroy you?") and pressed his guest to disprove that "the entire presidency was a facade of public manipulation." Oh, and Stewart was funny, too — getting B-52's frontman Fred Schneider to read passages from the book a la "Love Shack" and using dolls to reenact Bush's now-infamous comment that he and McClellan would end up on rocking chairs in Texas someday ("how close are you sitting, and where's Cheney with the gun?"). Top that, Stephanopoulos!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion bo... read more
