Jan 28 - President Obama took his job-creation message from the State of the Union address on the road Thursday - with a visit to Tampa, Florida. Jon Decker, Reuters. Just a day after his State of the Union address in which he put a renewed focus on the faltering U.S. economy, President Barack Obama traveled to Tampa, Florida where he told a friendly audience job creation is his top priority.
SOUNDBITE: U.S. President Barack Obama saying (English):
"So we're not going to rest until we rebuild an economy in which hard work and responsibility are rewarded, and businesses are hiring again, and wages are growing again, and the middle class can get its legs underneath it again."
With his poll numbers down and some of his political allies urging him to take a different approach in selling his domestic agenda, the President said he would not abandon his push for healthcare reform -- which now seems in jeopardy.
