Japanese immigrant Kyoko (Minako Ohashi) faces deportation from San Francisco if she doesn't find a way to get a green card soon. She doesn't speak much English, but agrees to marry a boring Japanese-American rocker (Ken Nakagawa) who shows little interest in her. He's no fun, and she's having trouble adjusting since he doesn't speak Japanese, but the two eventually connect through music -- and then he decides she might be his type after all.
