Kelly Clarkson
"Security! Security!"
Given Kelly Clarkson's urgent cries, one expects a fleet of beefy bodyguards to rush the pop star's dressing room on the set of her new ABC summer series, Duets. But as the seconds tick by, the only one bolting through the open door is Clarkson's teacup Maltese, who's decided to go exploring down the hall. "Security!" the singer yells again, calling after the spirited, ironically named pint-size pup. His escape quickly foiled, the...

The Chicago Code (Monday, 9/8c, Fox)
As often happens in the best crime dramas, the bad guy often gets some of the meatiest material. And Ronin Gibbons, the Chicago Alderman played so deliciously by Delroy Lindo, is no ordinary adversary. We get a better sense of what makes him tick in this episode, when the powerful politician is confronted by an armed teenage robber, causing Gibbons to look back on his own upbringing, back before he became so cynical about the city's corrupt ways. In another storyline, a bomber blows up a city building and promises more mayhem, putting a ticking clock on Jarek and Caleb's efforts to track down the culprit. This situation is not unlike the dilemma on ABC's Castle an hour later (10/9c), in the conclusion of a tense two-parter that finds Beckett and Castle teaming up with a fed (Adrian Pasdar) to avert a terrorist calamity....

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart
Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity and Stephen Colbert's competing/companion March to Keep Fear Alive was refreshingly free of the usual liberal-vs.-conservative rhetoric and instead pointed a finger at a different adversary: the country's mass media.
"We live now in hard times, not end times," The Daily Show host told the crowd during his "keynote address" Saturday at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Fergie by Cliff Lipson/CBS
The list of 2008 Grammy Awards performers and presenters is getting longer by the day as the Feb. 10 event draws closer. Piling up in a star-studded harmony of names, the latest performances announced include the pairing of Fergie, who's nominated for Best Female Pop Vocalist Performance, with soul crooner John Legend. In a special segment, Josh Groban will be singing along with pop opera (popera, if you will) singer Andrea Bocelli, in their first joint performance ever. New presenters have also been announced, and include teen phenoms Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus, along with fresh adds Solange Knowles, George Lopez, Lyle Lovett and Ludacris. With all these additions to an already robust roster, the show should be seriously g-l-a-m-o-r-o-u-s, which attendees should be able to both embody and spell.
