  • Michael Jackson Sued By "Thriller" Director | Today's News: Our Take | 1/28/2009

"Thriller" director John Landis has filed a lawsuit accusing Michael Jackson of breach of contract over unpaid royalties, The Wrap reports.

In a lawsuit filed last week at a Los Angeles Superior Court, Landis claims Jackson has not paid him his share of the profits from the classic 14-minute video and the clip's "making of" documentary since at least 2005. Accusing the singer of ...

  • NBC Hopes to Scare Up Ratings with Fear Itself | Today's News: Our Take | 3/3/2008
NBC has recruited a long list of noted directors, actors and writers for its 13-episode suspense and horror anthology series Fear Itself. The series, produced by LionsGate and Industry Entertainment, will boast the work of award-winning horror directors John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), Darren Bousman (Saw II), Brad Anderson (The Machinist), Mary Harron (American Psycho), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) and Heroes' Ernest Dickerson. Superman Returns' Brandon Routh and Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss join Cynthia Watros (Lost), Eric Roberts (Heroes) and Larry Gilliard Jr. (The Wire), along with a boatload of other actors who will earn some screen time in one of the series' episodes. And just what kind of horrors can you expect? Landis' "A Nightmare in Lace" follows a bride who receives word on her wedding day that her groom is a serial killer, and Harron's "Community" features a young couple who find their dream home in the perfect neighborhood (until their neighbors start killing ... read more

But if George Wendt's character Harold compared notes with Wisteria Lane's latest diabolical resident Orson Hodge [Kyle MacLachlan], I believe that even Orson would get a chill down his spine. Or... maybe he'd just wish that "he'd thought of that." Yes, I think that Orson would find a mentor in Harold. He certainly would respect Harold's excellence in homemaking, gardening and cleanliness as well as his devotion to family values — especially the value of hiding the evidence. (Bree Hodge really needs to watch this episode!)If I were to recommend a Masters of Horror episode to entry-level horror fiends or to my squeamish friends, it would be Family. Yes, there's a bit of gore, but nothing (I mean, nothing) compared to last week's ... read more
