The first season begins with oil tycoon Blake Carrington marrying his former secretary, Krystle. Krystle's former lover, Matthew, returns to town and causes more problems when he tells Krystle that he's still in love with her. Blake's daughter Fallon does not support his marriage, and chooses to marry childhood friend Jeff Colby just for her father's benefit.
The 9th and final season of the primetime soap begins as Alexis is comforted by Dex's solace and friendship and the two renew their passionate love for each other. Fallon slips out of Jeff's room after Sammy Jo shows up unexpectedly to accept his marriage offer. Blake is devastated by his fear that Krystle's disappearance at the end of season 8 may by a severe mental disorder.
The second season begins right where the first left off, with Blake's first wife Alexis taking the stand and testifying against him. Alexis stirs things up even more after she decides to move onto the Carrington estate. Meanwhile, Steven marries Sammy Jo, Blake is blinded following an explosion and Claudia is hospitalized after getting shot.

Season 4 begins right where the third left off, with Krystle and Alexis trapped in a burning cabin. Mark rescues them but becomes the one accused of arson and attempted murder until Alexis finds out that Joseph was the real culprit. Later, Fallon and Jeff uncover evidence suggesting that Adam poisoned Jeff, but Adam frames Alexis for it.
In season 8 Matthew Blaisdel threatens to kill Blake to insure Krystle's cooperation. Alexis is saved from certain death by a mysterious stranger, Sean Rowan. Dana and Adam fly off on their honeymoon and Jeff finds Fallon's unconscious body abandoned in the desert. Alexis marries Sean, unaware that he is Joseph's son and Kirby's brother who is out for revenge.
In season 7 Alexis' life is spared as Krystle is able to restrain Blake's lethal temper, Amanda is rescued by Blake's chauffeur, Michael Culhane, and Claudia is claimed victim by the ravaging flames. After Blake recovers his wealth, he loses his memory following an oil rig explosion. While everyone thinks he is dead, Alexis makes him believe they are still married.
Wishing to dispose of his wife, psychiatrist Doctor Elliott makes his patient Nina think that she suffers from a compulsion to kill.
Col. Thorwald is responsible for organizing a battalion to raid the Japanese-held Makim Island. His battalion is made up of misfits, brawlers, etc. but he transforms them into a tough fighting unit for the fierce battle.
