Breakthrough came playing opposite Hugh Grant in the romantic hit Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994).
Television work includes lead roles in the British police drama Out of the Blue and medical series McCallum.
Started the independent production company Clerkenwell Films with producer Murray Ferguson in 1998.
First American movie appearance was in the 1999 action film The Mummy featuring Brendan Fraser.
Originally considered for the part of Charlie in the TV sci-fi drama Lost, which eventually went to Dominic Monaghan.
