Health Bulletins: Roger Ebert, Dynasty Vet

Film critic Roger Ebert told Chicago Sun-Times readers on Thursday that after being "completely out of it" for the two months following surgeries to repair bleeding from a cancerous growth, he is teaching his atrophied muscles to walk again, and expects to be back at work full-time in time to cover the next Academy Awards. Until then, Ebert's first film review since his incapacitation is online today, for Helen Mirren's The Queen.... John Forsythe, diagnosed with colon cancer on Sept. 28, has been treated for the disease and is now recovering at a hospital. Are you as psyched as I am for...

Are you as psyched as I am for Dynasty Reunion: Catfights & Caviar, which airs May 2 on CBS? Just like the Dallas and Knots Landing reunions, this one gathers cast members from Aaron Spelling's nighttime soap to reminisce about their sudsy adventures in the '80s. In search of scoopage, TVGuide.com rang up Gordon Thomson, who played Dynasty devil Adam Carrington, in addition to his daytime gigs on Ryan's Hope, Santa Barbara and Sunset Beach. This cheeky, candid Canadian did not disappoint!

TVGuide.com: How's your TV mother, Joan Collins?
Gordon Thomson:
I've known Joan on and off for 24 years and I've never seen her happier. She's in great form. [Collins' fifth husband] Percy Gibson is the best thing that ever happened to her. It's a great match. They're frisky and lovely together. They're mutually nuts about each other.

Linda Evans and John Forsythe ...

Question: Linda Evans and John Forsythe were in a nighttime soap with the name Carrington. What was the name of that show?

Answer: I'm happy to answer that, but I demand an explanation — unless you spent the better part of the '80s living in a vacuum or, at least, manning a missile silo, I simply don't see how you could forget the over-the-top Dynasty. A fixture of a time when alluring TV women were rightly defined as those over 20, the series was a classic and the definition of the overused term "guilty pleasure."

A ratings powerhouse in the mid-'80s, Dynasty ran on ABC from January 1981 to May 1989, making Forsythe, Evans (The Big Valley) and costar Joan Collins household names while doling out paychecks to what seemed like half of Hollywood and upping the profiles of actor read more
