"Journey's End"

“I was going to be with you forever.”-Donna NobleStarting exactly where the cliffhanger left off, a neon-light show marks the beginning of the Tenth Doctor's regeneration (as a result of the mortal wounds he received at the end of the last episode). During the process, he points the energy at his severed hand in a jar (from season two episode, “The Christmas Invasion” and which has also made appearances in Torchwood season one). The regeneration ends... the Tenth Doctor is still with us -he has not regenerated, instead transferring the energy from his third hand to heal himself! Donna, Capt. Jack and Rose are dumbfounded by this (more so Jack and Rose). Finally, Rose and the Doctor have their proper reunion, which of course is cut short as the Dalek capture the TARDIS and transfer it to the Crucible, the Dalek's baseship. Rose recounts the events in her universe and how her world was able to build a dimensional canon to teleport Rose. She also mentions that all t... read full article

The pair re-enters the TARDIS and while inside, there is a massive jolt from the exterior of the ship. Upon opening the door, they only see space -the Earth has been stolen right from under them.Far across the universe: Martha Jones with UNIT in New York; Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones at Torchwood, Cardiff; Sarah Jane Smith, her son, Luke and Mr Smith their computer in London; Wilfred Mott and Sylvia Noble in London; and later, Rose Tyler teleporting to the street where the TARDIS landed in London, are all discombobulated (cept for Rose) over the weird earthquake (literally?). Torchwood's Season 3? We Do Know Jack

Tired of all the rumors surrounding Torchwood's future, TVGuide.com went directly to the rift, er, Cardiff, Wales, to learn if the truth was out there. Well, 'Woodies (or Torchies, if you prefer), scripts for Season 3 are currently being developed and filming should start in the middle of August for airing on BBC1 in the spring of 2009. Best news of all, John Barrowman will return as the dashing bi-sexual adventurer. Though keeping more details close to the vest, executive producer Julie Gardner vows that fans "will be pleased with the casting." That better mean Eve Myles is returning! Fans, however, may not be so happy with the mere five hours slated for next season. "We've decided to do a five-part mini-series, one big story that will run during one week," says Gardner, adding, "I wanted to make a really big noise about the show."So far, the BBC has only green lit these five hours, but there could be more, we're told. When (or even whether) BBC America will run the mini-series h... read more

BBC Provides the Missing Doctor Who DVD Cast Commentary

This past November 6th saw the DVD release of Doctor Who - The Complete 3rd Season in North America, culminating in an epic three-part story where The Doctor (David Tennant) had battled, and seemingly lost the Earth to, one of his longest-running enemies. The advance material and the included booklet for the DVD release both said that the season finale, "The Last of the Time Lords", would include a cast commentary track by David Tennant ("The Doctor"), Freema Agyeman ("Martha Jones") and John Barrowman ("Capt. Jack Harkness" of Torchwood). However, that wasn't the commentary track fans found on the release when it arrived! Instead there was a podcast, which had previously been released on the internet, recorded by show producers Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson.Naturally fans felt upset, especially when it became known that the proper cast commentary had been included in the U.K.'s DVD release of the same episode. Our own Gord Lacey turned to BBC Video for an explan... read more

Torchwood: The Complete First Season — Review

This Doctor Who spin-off debuted on BBC America back in September and quickly garnered the highest ratings in the network's history. Packed with fascinating alien artifacts and adversaries, Torchwood will win over sci fi fans — whether or not they've seen the original Doctor Who episodes that introduced viewers to the secret, beyond-the-law organization. The heart and soul of the show is John Barrowman as the immortal, bisexual Captain Jack Harkness, whose team of scientists and crime fighters get into all sorts of messes but always return to the fold. The 13 original episodes appear on 7 discs, along with an impressive array of bonus material: cast interviews, commentary, deleted scenes, featurettes, etc. Check it out before the next season starts up again on BBCA this weekend! — Nina Hämmerling SmithBuy Torchwood: The Complete First Season on Amazon.com read more
